Cal's trying to do some things with Jackson by letting him catch the ball out high sometimes, but the problem is Jackson can't stay on the court.

He also will put Sarr out on the baseline and at the elbow and let him catch and shoot like in Notre Dame, but Sarr can't stay on the court either.

We all know Cal is super traditional, but this team hasn't even gotten to the point where we can talk about style and system. These guys just don't know how to play the game in a fundamental way to even showcase some of their skills. Fouling all the time is a breakdown of fundamentals. You watch Jackson out there shoving and pushing and slapping. I mean, that's just bad coaching.

More than wins and losses, the major test with Cal will be after the season. If we go through a season with 10 wins (if this team can get to 10) and then we have guys like Boston, Clarke, and Jackson try to jump to the NBA--and a couple more transfer--that's when things will fully break down for Cal even more than they are now.

I noticed more moving screens/picks being called than I can remember. Does this go on in practice and none of the coaches makes the players aware of it?

Kentucky was setting picks for the first time all season. They put in a few things they were trying out. I don't think they'd worked on proper technique while screening, which seems like it should be basketball 101.

And the screens are so blatant and so easy for the officials to call. They actually passed on a couple more. Of course having to move while setting a screen can be the fault of the player being screened for. If they don't move the defense into the screen, the screener then is called for the foul.

Sarr should know how to set a screen by now.

*In my J Bilas voice*..."just setting a screen for the screener"
