As for floaters, Quickley still isn't on NCAA Wayne Turner level just yet but that could change we shock the world and win this thing...Comment

Turner actually works as a security guard at Atherton High School, where my son attends. Would love to see him on their coaching staff next year.👍 1Comment

Speaking of Wayne, he's an assistant coach at Seneca High School. My son's team played them twice this year as they're in the same district. They run some of the same traps and defenses we used to see in the late '90s at Kentucky.

Impossible to call it now. Still too much work left to do for UK now that we laid an egg last night. A home loss on March 3rd against a bad team where there are rumors the team is melting down from the inside is not good, to put it mildly. That could have reverberations all the way to Selection Sunday.
OTOH, if they come out Saturday and play well they could wash some of last night away. Hard for me to imagine that's going to happen, but maybe last night was a necessary thing.
Unfortunately as has been discussed a trillion times the SEC Tournament doesn't matter. Lunardi even said as much last night on the air. So they might have just one shot to redeem themselves, and it'll be a tough game on the road in a place that has at times not been kind to UK.Comment

The team that I watched on that "Journey" video from Saturday is not a team that is melting down from the inside. That sort of stuff does not happen in three days. We got up by seventeen, quit playing, got frustrated, started pointing fingers and pouting... we've all seen it happen at least a hundred times. Until I hear reason to think otherwise, that's all I'm chalking this up to. The rest is just static.

I don't buy this, either.

It could be just a one-game thing. I certainly haven't seen anything this year that suggested there was turmoil, though it's clear Ashton Hagans has been having a very hard time recently.
But sometimes stuff like that can snowball. My post above was more about the timing than anything: if you have turmoil, you want it to be in November where it can get cleaned out of your system. Players fighting in early March isn't ideal.
Having said that, I was at the SEC Tournament the year Daniel Orton tried to fight everybody on the bench and had to be sent back to the locker room. I was actually sitting right behind the bench when that happened; I thought Orton and Josh Harrellson of all people were going to have to be separated.
Stuff happens inside teams that occasionally gets blown out of proportion when fans get to witness it.Comment

Depends on how they come out of it.

The loss last night was crushing for UK with the computers. Dropped to #30 in KenPom and dropped 7 spots in the NET to #21 overall. Last night cost us any chance at a 2 and I'm not sure we get back up to a 3 now unless we win at UF and win the SECT. Losing any of those is going to drop us further in the NET and they aren't giving a 3 seed to a team with a NET ranking of 20+Comment

History says your road record means as much as any other metric, so I'm hoping that pulls Kentucky up above its NET.
Still don't think it matters this year. In a down field like this you might as well play all comers. It's not like we're trying to duck some juggernaut or something. There isn't a ton of difference between the 1s and the 4s and the 5s and the 10s this season.
It'd be nice if they somehow gave us a deserving seed but as I said, history has shown that kids sometimes play better with a chip on their shoulder. Getting jobbed by the committee has proven to not be a terrible thing for Kentucky the last few years.Comment

I'm sure you hope so, because it would embolden your sky is falling narrative.👍 1Comment
