I'm a realist and I dont see any way we keep Richards, Hagans, Maxey or Quickley. Maybe Montgomery sees what Richards did this year and sticks around but I doubt it.

We are going to be very young next year. The upside is that the talent level will be higher.
Hagans is the most interesting case. He'd probably be drafted, but he has fallen off so far from where he was from the beginning that he's done major damage to his stock. It will be a crap shoot if he chooses to test it.

But a lot can happen between now and the end. He could have a solid NCAA Tournament and totally wash away the issues he's had this year. But looking at it right now, he's not in a great place.

Montgomery has some NBA tools and would maybe get his name called, but he's a crap shoot as well. His decision will be interesting too.

Maxey is obviously gone. Richards' stock will never be higher so he's gone. Quickley is interesting but he's had such a great year that I think he might be the best he can be right now, particularly with how many good guards UK is bringing in. I would assume he'll jump.

Hagans and Montgomery are both interesting. Hagans has really damaged his stock this season, IMO, but sometimes that doesn't sway them from going.

I don't think we win out. I think we drop one, either at UF or in the SECT

Some of them better come back or next year will be very dicey. Clarke and Boston seem to be instant impact guys (although we thought Whitney was as well) but the others are not and I think we will have major PG issues if Askew is the (only?) guy next season. Jackson may be a solid contributor but I think Ware and Fletcher certainly won't be more than minor role players.

Juzang, Brooks, Allen are certain to return. After that we HAVE to get one or two of Hagans, IQ, or EJ to return to be a legit top 5 team.

It's March 2020 and crazzed already has concerns about 2021.

            ???

You're the one saying everyone is leaving. I don't give two craps about 2021 right now but you are talking about it so why can't I weigh in on it?

You don't think there would be problems if everyone you say is likely to leave actually leaves?

I was just cracking on your pessimism.

I don't really know how to answer your question but I will say that it's never good if they all leave. UK has really never been in that situation though, but we've certainly come close. We usually need one or two main contributors to return to be a top flight team, as is the case pretty much every year.

EDIT: Also, I'm trying to figure out where I said "everyone is leaving." I don't believe that nor did I post it. I have no idea what they're going to do and frankly I don't give a crap right now. I'm concerned about this team. I was just pointing out where I see the different possibilities and how they could go.

We've had everyone of any consequence leave a whole bunch. After 2010, 2012, 2015, etc.

I'm high on our squad but I see another loss before the dance.

Maryland lost again, this time to unranked Rutgers. That should guarantee we are ahead of them when it comes to seeding.

No guarantees. They're in the mighty Big10. There's going to be some serious Big10 butt kissing going on a week from Sunday by a certain committee.

Miller returned to be a major contributor in 2011 and 2012.

Ulis returned as a star in 2016.

Only 2012 really was a situation where "everyone left."

If I had to guess, I'd imagine this team will have at least one or two who come back to anchor next year's team--as it has been in every year except one in the Calipari era.

Whether that will be enough to field a national championship caliber team, I don't know. But I would imagine they'll all not leave because history has shown that doesn't happen at UK unless you win the title--and this team will have to have a bunch of luck to get there.

^ Actually 2017 was probably a case where "everyone left," though I remember being pretty excited about what Wenyen Gabriel could do.

I wouldn't put 2016 in that boat because of Isaiah Briscoe and how essential he was to 2017. Also Hawkins and Willis, the two seniors, were vital--though there was never a question of their return.

So really two years we've been almost totally cleaned out: 2012 and 2017.

This team is obviously not on the level as those two but it's weird in that it does have most of its contributors at least on draft boards, though only Maxey looks to be the real lock.

I have to read Hagans' sudden wildness as a reaction to his tumbling draft stock. His dad spoke to Kyle Tucker in his defense just a few days ago, so you know the family is thinking about it. (As they should be.)

But looking at Hagans right now it's really hard for me to see him making an NBA team. Just does so many things poorly. Ditto Montgomery, who at times doesn't even factor in to college games.

Montgomery has that benefit of having NBA tools, though, and so he would be a safer bet. But it's almost laughable to imagine either one actually playing in the NBA at this point.

I agree, but then I remember that Mychal Mulder and Wenyen Gabriel are currently starting for NBA teams.
