Kind of a weird turn to this thread. At any rate, I hate to hear this. I think he was second best only behind MJ during my lifetime. I didn’t realize he was 41, I would have guessed late thirties

I've never understood this. I have the same sympathy for the survivors of the other victims as I do for Kobe, no more or no less.
AMEN MATT.....there is one family where the children lost their mother and Father and Sister....and there are children in another family that will grow up without their mother

I thought he was 35 when he retired, which is surprising.

In my lifetime I’d rank it:

        1.) MJ
        2.) Kobe
        3.) Shaq
        4.) Lebron
        5.) Magic
        6.) Larry

        after that I dunno

He was one of if not the best of his generation.
I grew up in the Russell/Chamberlain era followed by Kareem.
they all brought something unique to the game.

In my lifetime these mentioned are all great players with unique talent, along with Kareem, Wilt, Oscar, Russell and others. But after watching all these Greats, one isn't mentioned who in my opinion was right there with MJ, and that is Julius Erving, Dr J.

On the court i hated Kobe as any true Celtic fan would but i always respected his game. RIP to him and his daughter, he was holding his daughter when they found them, i just can't imagine.
