Kobe Bryant killed in helicopter crash

Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash today. The Los Angeles Laker legend was 41.

TMZ Sports first reported the story, and ESPN followed with a report, citing an unnamed source.

Bryant and at least three other individuals were reportedly in Bryant’s private helicopter when it went down in Calabasas, a suburb of Los Angeles located in the hills west of the San Fernando Valley. Bryant reportedly has been long known for traveling frequently by helicopter to get around Southern California and avoid the traffic.

Bryant, the son of former NBA player Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, spent his entire 20 year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, being drafted as a 17 year old out of high school in 1996. He was a five time NBA Champion, a former NBA MVP, and an 18 time All Star who had 11 All-NBA first team appearances, along with 2 apiece on the All-NBA second team and All-NBA Third Team.

It's now bring reported there are five total deaths and no survivors. This is shocking news. It doesn't matter what your profession is, how much you're worth, how old you are, or anything else. When it's your time to go it's your time to go. I haven't seen reports on who else was on board, but here's to hoping there was no suffering. Rest in peace to one of the greatest ever.

It's been confirmed his 13 year old daughter is also one of the deceased. Some stations are claiming the other passengers were his daughters as well but nothing confirmed.

One of the greatest basketball players of all time. I always rooted against him, but was still awed by his competitiveness and ability.

This one hurts. RIP to him and his beautiful daughter.

Awful. Genuinely one of the two or three best of all time and gone too soon.

Now reports are that nine were on board. They identities of three others were confirmed. A collegiate baseball coach, his wife, and daughter. I'm assuming his daughter was the teammate of GiGi. The original reports were five on board, but they recently discovered the manifest had nine people for the flight. No word on the other four.

I’ve never ridden in one but they scare the hell out of me for some reason. Not sure I would ever consider getting into one.

The nine includes the pilot. There were eight passengers. Kobe and his dau., the Altobelli's and Ms. Mauser. That leaves two unnamed at this time.

Sarah Chester and her 13 year old daughter, Payton, are the last two passengers. Payton was on the same team as GiGi. Still no confirmation of the pilot's identity.
