Once again I will ask , as I have for several years WHAT IS the UK offense. Can anyone honestly tell me you saw a coherent offensive system employed in this game. Okay we have deficits on this club , if your the coach don’t you try to design something that plays to your strength instead of accentuate our weaknesses

I agree. But I'm not seeing any team that isn't a nightmare, this year. I thought that OSU would blow Ky out. They won, but it wasn't a blowout. This whole 1 and done philosophy is biting everyone in the now. 1 and done only works when a couple kids leave. It doesn't work when you shove 6-7 kids out to make room for the next class of 1 and dones.

Utah currently losing by 30 against SDSU.

just another proof point that this UK team is a steaming pile of crap this year.

So far, easily Cal’s worst team at UK. Losing by 10-15 at home against UL will seal it.

How did OSU lose to Pitino & Utah losing to SDSU because like Duke, we are everyone’s “Super Bowl” and in most cases than not, if we lose to a team they turn around and lose the next game. Even with our mediocre play (except Sestina-go figure he just came back this week, not even in “game shape”), foul trouble and poor ref calls, we were in it, we should’ve won that game too...conciliation-not a blow out.

This team will be fighting to get into the tournament - it's that bad and that void of good basketball talent.

Oh yeah - I don't like to get on officiating because there are bad calls everywhere but these guys tonight missed a ton of calls and made a ton of bad ones - very poor job.
As weak as most teams are this year, if we fix some of our issues we can compete. Not saying we will but I am not giving up yet. At this point and time we are a bad team which we both agree on.

I just got home from the KBG tournament. I saw some great teams, and all Officials graded very well. I hate to hear we lost, but the score was better than I expected.

I agree. The only saving grace and Will stated this back a while ago as well is that all of college basketball is very poor this season.. I honestly think this might be the year that a mid-major wins it all and I'm referring mainly to Gonzaga.

Herro and PJ's improvement bailed Cal out last season. Both had very good years, were exciting, and very likable.

Agree... I like Cal. I think overall, he's a fantastic coach and has done well with getting many of these kids ready to take that next leap in the NBA which overall, I believe is his job. I think he does a great job in trying to teach them to play defense, to fight all the time, to face adversity even if you fail because your going to and pushes them - all great qualities. And, I think he cares about them. And let's be real here - if he wasn't a good coach - he wouldn't be where he is.

BUT --- I do get sick of his stale offense and defense. I get so bored watching the swing guy running around the two big men picks trying to get open. I'm not saying it's not a good play to run here and there - just not every time down the court. I think often they start the game out running some good screen plays but as the game goes on, it gets bland and then it turns into a one-man show of just drive the ball. Defensively - I still don't understand how he never wants to press. You got length and athletic ability and yes, your going to give up a play here and there but at times, go to it. The defense is terrible anyway. I've never seen so many switches and double-teams when not needed and leaving their man open.

Basketball 101 - know where your man and the ball is at all times. EJ might as well just stand in the lane with his arms up because he would play better D. He's lost non-stop out there. Literally - a fast break tonight and Maxey trying to catch up with the guy and he literally peels off while the guy drives the entire lane. Just terrible basketball IQ, bad decisions, terrible shots, etc...

With EJ though - I do wonder if Cal shouldn't do what he used to do with KAT sometimes. The first play or two of the game, get him in the post, feed him the ball, and let him try to get a basket or two to get him going mentally. He does have good touch around the rim. But - him and Whitley are providing nothing on the court other than 10 fouls to give.

Oh well - onto the next game --- will it be three loses in a row? We shall see.

It's a pressing issue that people are burying their heads over. When you have dominant players you can play "random" basketball, when you have this collection of players you need a structured offense.

Fellas, this will be my last post for a while. I have lost more and more interest. I simply can't do this anymore. I'm sure some will say not a fan and all that mess. UK games have gone from actually missing work to see them to not even knowing they are on.

I can't blame Cal 100% maybe its just me? I just can't invest in these blank jerseys any longer. The amount of time for a one and done is just too short for me. I would rather have guys I can invest some time in and get to know. I feel like we have a great class coming next year might pick it back up then. I guess on the flip side I have become a much bigger Football fan. Just tired of the same ole thing. I know someone will show me some stats on Cals success, don't bother.

Lots of great people here, great fans. I will still come to the site to read news and keep up with football, just can't do BB right now.
