The last few of Cal's teams have sapped my interest in watching basketball. I don't think the sport on the whole is that great right now, but watching UK basketball has become a chore. Especially with the momentum of the football program right now, my overall feeling about basketball is 'meh.'

I think Cal has been great but the way recruiting has fallen off coupled with the fact that we're still hemorrhaging players every April has taken a lot of the joy out of it.

This team will get better, but theres a distinct ceiling for just how good. I still think we beat Louisville at Rupp, because thats just what we do, but Saturday could be brutal.

If any player has a sniff of potential they are gone after one season. I hate to say it but with each passing year my joy of watching my beloved Cats dies a little bit. I am so sick of our model.

Play like last night and it's two blow outs in a row.

Well yeah, but I think well show up for at least one of them.

Its obvious that Cal doesnt know these guys yet. Usually that happens in January and February. His great teams typically steamroll through November and December on talent alone, but this isnt one of them. Hes got his work cut out for him, but he usually always figures out his personnel and gets it going toward March. The "process" (a word ive grown to hate) can just be frustrating.

I think this team will be okay, if only because college basketball as a whole is so mediocre, but theyve got a lot of work to do and Im not sure how high their ceiling in. This roster has a lot of problems, and thats all on Cal.

Yep, this is exactly how I feel. I watched 0 seconds of the game last night (thankfully). I won't watch the Ohio St game either as my daughter has a soccer tournament. In the "old" days I would have skipped the tournament or watched it from my phone or DVR'd it and turned my phone off so I didn't know what happen. Now, I'm just not worried about it. If I make it back to catch the end of the game great, if not, no big deal.

In a couple of years, one and done will be gone and well revert back to the old model.

Time will tell how much the fanbase likes it.

Yeah, it absolutely was (and still is sometimes). The success (wins) overall has still been there but the last 5 seasons (counting this one) minus the Fox/Monk team have been really friggin boring to downright brutal to watch. The players just haven't been very good, the turnover has been outrageous and the lack of real (Final Four) success is getting a bit old.

I'm sure we are all spoiled but Cal's first 5 years to his last 5 have been night/day difference in terms of excitement and ultimate success (Final Four and beyond).

I'm not so sure it will. Even if the James Wiseman's of the world don't come to college, you're still gonna have an awful lot of players who need a year then bolt.

Keldon Johnson would fireproof us against a lot of these losses. We're missing a player exactly like him.

With our frontcourt we probably still wouldn't be in any way dominant. But he would've been huge.

                        Last year was boring?

I disagree. I liked those guys.

I actually liked the Ulis and Murray team in a lot of ways. They'd drill this current team. Just had nothing inside.

Every other year at Kentucky is really sketchy. A person can live with that only if those other years are rock solid. But you can't run an every-other-year model and have strong years be Elite Eights and off-years be 9-10 loss second round/Sweet Sixteen years. Not at Kentucky.

Shoot like last night and we won't be in those games. We'll also be a .500 level team in a soft SEC.

The inability to hit shots is mystifying for a team that's so guard-heavy.

But if you watch them it's clear why the shots don't fall: they're coming outside the sets. We don't run a whole lot so guys are shooting flat-footed a lot of the time. Only Quickley last night got probably three or four looks that were designed for him. (To Cal's credit, he drew up a hell of a BLOB for the game-tying shot.)

Maxey, Hagans, and Whitney usually jack their shots up just because they get a hair. That won't get it done at this level.

He's busy. He has played a grand total of 2 minutes in the NBA this season.

What a huge freaking mistake he made.

Too disgusted to write anything last night. So no more tomato cans on the schedule and we find out what we have. What we have is the worst team in the Cal era. Absolutely no inside game, worst shooting team I have seen at UK in living memory. From what I have seen there are at least 5 teams in SEC as good as Utah so a10 loss season is very possible. At what point does Cal see he needs to make a change in how he constitutes his teams, Maybe he will wait till there are 10 thousand empty seats in Rupp for a home game?
