Kentucky School for the Deaf is in the 12th Region, which is my hometown school's region. We played them in football every year when I was in high school and they'd just beat us to death. They had a running back one year that UK was looking at.

The 30 for 30 thing may've shown this, but the way they stop play is they've got guys all around the field banging huge rubber mats off the ground. The mats create a vibration so the players know to stop. Really fascinating to watch.

I had wondered about that. How they knew play had stopped? Very interesting. I never saw KSD play in person. It would be fascinating to watch a game.
      Kentucky fan since 1971.

If I'm not mistaken, they no longer field a fb team.

I had the privilege of officiating the National Deaf Basketball Tournament in Freedom Hall. It was an experience I'll never forget. It was an amazing thing to see both the players, Coaches and their fans communicate. Stopping play was always an issue because some of the players were totally deaf and could not hear the whistle. It was common to have to chase them down and motion that a foul or violation had happened. Believe it or not, but at times we could hear the game clock above the court, clicking because it was so quiet. And watching and listing to the fans cheer was something to behold. There were around 8 to 10 thousand fans, and watching them sign to each other and their teams was like nothing I had ever seen. But there was excitement and passion just like all other games. And because there were men and women's teams from all over the country, the talent level in all games was very good. I have some funny stories, but this would get very long if I shared them here.
