K-State : First Thoughts (UPDATE: Game is at 9:45 Thursday)

KST is kind of an enigma. Don't do anything really well, haven't really beaten anybody that great this year, computers don't really like them.

But, they are winning and will be a tough out.

Their best player who has a stress fracture said he is "98% ready" and will be 100% later this week for the game. He's good and will be a touch matchup.

But, much like Davidson and Buffalo, UK's best game is WAY better than KST's best game. As long as we play like we should it should be on to the Elite 8 for the Wildcats (the UK variety)!

The first thing that I noticed last night about K-State was how dreadful their guards were. If they don't shore up some of the problems they were having last night, Shai Alexander will absolutely crucify them.

I realize it’s Catlanta but I’m not sure people are realizing that it’s REALLY Catlanta. First, Tennessee had a real shot of playing in Catlanta but they failed (UT fans would have shown up as well). Also, it’s pretty much the same for Cincinnati but they too failed (some UC fans would have made that 7 hour drive). Now that leaves K State, Loyola-Chicago, and Nevada. I don’t see many making the journey from those schools to “Catlanta”. In other words, the NCAA could have just held these next two games at Rupp and it wouldn’t have been any different in terms of majority of fans. With all of that....Welcome to Rupp Arena South, Second home to your University of Kentucky Wildcats!

KST will probably play us physical and try to take away Shai's penetration by boxing and daring us to beat them from the outside. They had to see how easy it was for Shai, Diallo and sometimes Knox to drive on Buffalo.

Looks like he went down after playing 41 minutes in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament against TCU. Hasn't played in their last three games.

Crazzed said above that computers don't like them. Not quite true: their defense is 20th in the country. That's solid. They will make this game a slog. The competition was obviously sketchy, but they gave UMBC virtually nothing last night for 40 minutes. They held a decent Creighton team below 60.

So this is a team that plays slow and that can make your life miserable offensively. We play much better against the Buffalos of the world. This is a team that's sub 300 in tempo. That's brutal.

Do they resemble anyone in the SEC like maybe Georgia or Tennessee?
