I don't believe it will happen, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that someone like Mack could or would consider the job. It's still a top 10 job. Problem is, they likely won't be able to attract a top 10 coach with the FBI pall hanging over a lot of potential prospects.

Coaching in the ACC may be a notch against Louisville, at least in the short-term.
Because they're getting ready to go through a time when they get mauled nightly in that league. How long the rebuilding is will depend on the hire, but I can't see them being even a player in that league for the next five years.👍 1Comment

Tubby can't connect with this generation of players anymore...Lawson boys eligible to play for KU next season. Wonder when the HS Lawson boy at Memphis East HS will committ to Memphis in a few years if Penny gets the job? And the last Lawson boy I think enters HS this fall... Lawson boys carrousel is gonna be interesting.Last edited by 85 Fly; 03-15-2018, 01:59 AM.Comment

Recruiting killed Tubby at Kentucky and he didn't go out and get a few hot young up and coming guys to help him. He was allowed to stay too long. He made Kentucky insignificant, his last years in Lexington.
I never thought he would ever be make a mark anywhere else, because of recruiting. If you cant recruit to Kentucky, you sure cant recruit at a lesser school. In his case, the school made his career.
UK was like a person stuck in a bad marriage and just got comfortable with mediocrity. I wonder if Tubby hadn't scored a deal with another school and left, how long would the AD let that train wreck go on?
Calipari has a Memphis kid and he will likely recruit his fellow teammate as well. Will Hardaway be able to pull those young men away from Cal? Let's see, regardless of his high school coaching ties, those young men have a chance to go to a top D1 school that regularly sends kids to the pros. I like Cal's chancesComment

Tubby has been fired from 2 of his last 3 jobs. The guy doesn't need that - just enjoy life at this point.👍 3Comment

There comes a point where Tubby Smith has been a failure longer than he was a success. At that point, can his most ardent defenders admit he was kind of a pretender?
Sure, he was a fine X and O guy. But he refused to recruit or do any of the day-to-day tasks required of being a Kentucky coach, and apparently a Minnesota, Texas Tech, and Memphis coach. Isn't that part of the package?
Tubby Smith is a "nice guy" (don't get me started on his darting in the middle of the night without telling his Kentucky players), but he's a contract thief and a mediocre basketball coach. Haters, go ahead and hate.Comment
