So, he should've called the TO, made his teammates move, set a good screen, rebound, play defense, etc? Without SGA in this game we lose by 25. There's a long list of people to blame on this frustrating but that kid is on the bottom of the list if he's on it at all.
I understand what you are saying... The problem with Shai is that he kills any momentum of the ball. What coaches will call a "Ball Stopper". He way over-dribbles non-stop and so the others just stand around and start watching.
This is the worst UK squad in Cal era. They don’t really do anything well. Certainly the worst shooting team I have seen at UK in 20 years. Cal better pull a rabbit out of his hat because from where I’m sitting next years team will not be much better
I'm not sure I'm going to take on Shai's basketball IQ. He knows what he's doing most of the time.
On the first turnover he was just weak with the ball. That happens ALL THE DAMN TIME with this team.
The second possession was panic city. That too happens quite a lot.
Too many problems may be thrown into the basketball IQ bin with this bunch. Some of this comes down to just mental and physical weakness. It also is a problem when we get to these situations and we've got one guy getting points for us. When one guy's getting points the defense can just sit on that one play.
This is the problem with not having multiple guys who can break down the defense.

If the rest of the team would actually move without the ball, cut, go back door, actually execute a pick and roll, or anything besides stand and watch I would agree. But, if Shai didn't attack our offense would literally be him standing at the top of the key dribbling for 23 seconds, a soft attempt at a post up on the elbow, then Diallo jacking up a rushed shot from well outside of his range. No one does anything without the ball.

I agree generally.
But the play at the end is basically Shai going to get a basket. He's the only guy we have who can carve into the defense.
It usually works. Shai screwed it up tonight at a critical time.
But again to me this comes back to failures to recruit, failures to keep guys in school, and not having enough game-changing players.
