    We saw the same godawful crap from those two squads that we're seeing now -- worse, actually. And both teams almost won titles. So, let's just slow down on the hyperbole, shall we?

    This team isn't nearly as talented as the twins' first team, but I see some similarities with the Brandon Knight team.

    For me - I don't know what to think honestly... On one hand - what I saw quickly from JV is that he can provide a spark that this team is needing and I think he's the best passer on the team. Watching him tonight and then seeing some of his HS games - he's a playmaker type player. IF they can toughen up. IF they can improve in many facets, they might have a decent run... On the other hand and my first thought at the beginning of the year - IF this team gets out of the first weekend - I'll be shocked and excited. Hard to advance in the tournament when you can't play defense or shoot the ball very well. But - we will see in time.

      Respectfully, I disagree.

      Brandon Knight was the best shooter Cal has had since he's been here, and has been a multi year starter in the NBA.

      Jones was the #1 recruit out of high school, and could score 20+ routinely. He was a very solid rebounder and was a top shot blocker. He was overshadowed later by Davis numbers, but Jones was the real deal.

      There simply is not any amount of elite passing, shooting, scoring, rebounding, or defending on this team yet. Though Vanderbilt definitely shows the hints of them.

        Diallo is not coming back regardless. Would bet the ranch on that.
        Definitely not my favorite player. Not ashamed to admit it. Selfish and flashes an attitude. Yet he was still in there while JV sat. Not sure why.

        We scored 3 measly points the last 6 minutes. All FTs. Of course, we missed a bunch of FTS and could have kept the lead, but this is not a good FT shooting team, so there's that.

        The Diallo stupid intentional foul pretty much started the downfall. The miss dunk by Richards soon after followed by their 3 point play was the back breaker.

        But the abundance of fouls, the lack of any 3 point threat and poor FT shooting doomed this team tonight. Some questionable coaching perhaps didn't help either.

        We need a loud Rupp and a good showing on Saturday for game day. Followed by a big win. Would help if we had all hands available as well.

          WHAT???? You need to read that statement again because it's very inaccurate.

            Granted, this team isn't as talented as the twins' first team, but college basketball isn't nearly as strong all-around this year as it was that year, either. And toughness? That team was soft as Charmin for the entirety of the SEC schedule. They didn't start playing tough until the SEC tournament. There's no reason that this team, with its size, length and strength can't follow suit. Will it? Maybe, maybe not, but it can. That's all I'm trying to say.

              I don't think so. Booker was awesome at range, but he couldn't play off the pick and pop, and pick and roll. Knight was his best shooter.

                Doron Lamb, Devin Booker, and Jamal Murray respectfully disagree.

                Brandon Knight is one of Cal's best players, but that team wasn't overwhelmed with talent. Let's not forget that for about 85% of that season, Terrence Jones played like a raw, soft freshman. And a "selfish MF," if I remember correctly. He also was not the number one recruit coming out of high school. Not sure where you got that info.

                  Knight was better than all of them, but played the point. He did a little more than shoot. But, he was the best shooter.

                    Doron Lamb was a better shooter than Brandon Knight, but okay.

                    Career three point shooting stats:

                    Lamb = 47.5%
                    Murray = 40.7%
                    Booker = 41.1%
                    Knight = 37.6%
                    Meeks = 38%
                    Delk = 39.75% (with a 44% senior year)

                    So it's not even really close. Doron Lamb might be the best shooter in Kentucky basketball history.

                      Hahahaha WOW... He wasn't even the best shooter on his team - Lamb was a better shooter. And sorry - he can't touch Booker... But whatever.

                        Just saw the stat line, Alexander didn’t have a single assist to go with 6 turnovers, not gonna beat anybody with that kind of performance at the point

                          The best thing about this team is they might be back next year. Will give them a chance to get better and will give me a chance to give a crap about them.

                            They won't all be back, you can count on that.

                              I'm not taking sides, just making an observation. In my opinion, the majority of people tend to become negative when they're unhappy and/or disappointed. I think that's human nature. Some express themselves more strongly than others, but there are many negative comments in this thread and not all are from the same poster.

                                What I see in a team may not be what others see. I value everyone's opinion about this team. Sure some of it may be a bit overboard, but we are all different so don't change anything for me.
