NBA Sources: One-and-Done Rule May be Coming to an End

Back on topic a tad - I do believe that if they remove the one and done rule that it will impact college basketball more so today than it did back years ago. I believe that LeBron's class were the last 18 year olds allowed in. I just heard Adam Silverman on a broadcast of the 76ers/Wizards game and he is full of it. He stated that college coaches are saying that the one and done is not working and that they don't want to deal with it so he is questioning how much training they are actually getting at the college level for one season. He simply is pushing for a minor league with his G league garbage. HOW can he say that college coaches are saying its not working? He was hyping up the 'training' and such of the G-league. I hope that BS falls flat on their face as that's where everything is headed.

If you do away with this rule - most likely 20+ kids will go to the NBA right out of high school each year - maybe more. The NBA will become even more trash and college will get worse. He mentioned Ben Simmons and the documentary that was done on him about his one season in college. He tried to state that Simmons wasn't into it and looked at it as a waste of time so how much training and prepardness did he actually get. First point is that it's Simmons and that's not a good player to use for stat purposes. Simmons is a big tool.

Anyway - I'll take the one and done of none any day of the week.

I agree about the NBA that game has changed and it's great basketball in my opinion. I know many do not want to support overpaid entitled athletes who need to keep politics and all that junk off the court but overall, i enjoy watching the NBA, especially my Celtics and watching ex UK players grow and develop on the professional level.....

Basketball is a unique sport in that it really isn't that interesting unless the teams are playing hard. There are times when games have this pick-up-like effortlessness to them and every shot is going on, but most of the time (almost all the time) the game is unwatchable unless all ten guys on the court are really playing excruciatingly hard.

The NBA at times, particularly in the middle of the season when you're watching meaningless games, can be tough to watch. But when everybody is bearing down it's the best athletes in the world playing a game at a level that's almost unfathomable. Playoff NBA basketball will feature eight to ten plays every night that you've never seen in your life.

But generally basketball can be very pleasing if it isn't played at a high level. That's another unique thing about it. If guys are going hard and the game is intense, sometimes it doesn't matter if the talent is off the charts or not. I've seen some spectacular high school games that feature not a single player who will play in college. But those games are well worth your time and attention because every player out there puts it on the line.

This is why college basketball will survive regardless of what happens with one-and-dones. I argue that those top-shelf players make the game better...but the game doesn't have to have them.

I hate to break the news to you but there are players who play in the NBA who can do things that you will never see being done in a college game. I hate Steph Curry but who else you know who can pull up on the fly from 30 feet away and make it rain? I saw Teague maybe Rondo break a ankle or two in college but Kyrie Irving does it on a consistent basis night in and night out, he makes the best defenders in the world look shameful, foolish, embarrassing. Russell Westbrook plays like a madman who's been up for 8 days straight high on cocaine and redbull and plays with a dominate type of energy that is unheard of, he averages a triple double at 6'3 from the point guard spot. I totally disagree that the NBA is garbage, i love Kentucky basketball but watching Cal coach a brand new team year in and year out is what i refer to as "junk' garbage basketball especially early on in a seaosn. To me, that's the true definition of garbage having 5 freshman running around not having a clue in the world what the hell is going on half the time..........

What i don't like is the fact that gifted lucky fortunate athletes who play in the NBA and make millions of dollars have the nerve to preach politics and speak on behalf of everyday hard working Americans, come join us in the real world. Hell, if i played in the NFL and sat on the bench i would stand the whole game and salute the flag if you payed me a couple of million a year whether i liked or respected the flag or not, i do get sick of overpaid gifted spoiled athletes pushing there own personal agenda's when in reality, they should be thankful to be gifted to play a game as a proffession and make millions of dollars.....

Furthermore, i don't watch the NFL anymore and i hope it goes out of business once and for all. If basketball players start this crap, to hell with them too....

I tend to think Kentucky looks pretty good early for the most part relative to all the other college teams I watch.

Some hiccups here and there, but it's not been that bad.

Cal's lost like five November games in his time at Kentucky. You don't accomplish that by playing junk basketball.

Cal's teams to go haywire on the road at times. But early on I think things are usually okay.

To me garbage is having a bunch of multi millionaires getting paid to play a game and giving a half hearted effort. I would much rather watch freshman who are lost as see those who just don't seem to care or try.

I can't really argue with this either. All i can say is that there are some good NBA games at times but i still get irritated by watching freshman develop from scracth year in and year out. Still, Cal seems to figure it out...

A lot of people try to read the motives of athletes, when in reality to reach these levels--Kentucky, but especially the NBA--you have to play insanely hard or you would have never made it there in the first place. And you surely would never succeed.

I agree with you guys... People can say negative things about the NBA but there is a ton of talent out there now... When I mentioned 'garbage' in my post above, I think what I was saying is that the NBA imposed the one and done rule as a lot of HS kids started going straight to the NBA and many of them were not panning out - which in turn, they felt was making the NBA game worse as these kids were no where near ready to play with the men. In today's world, if the rule is lifted, then I think there will be even more kids go straight to the NBA which will once again, flood the NBA with unproven and many players that won't play or won't pan out. But that can happen regardless but with that one year in college - NBA teams can see a kid a little further at a higher level than HS.

I think the NBA game is solid right now - Durant is as good as there is. Westbrook - I can't explain any better than what Jennings did above - so fast, strong, and so damn good. LeBron, Steph, and so many more. There may not be teams as stacked as the 80s teams due to more teams and so on but there is a lot of talent there. Playoff NBA games are pretty good when they step up to play. Some make it look so easy.

For those who don't like the NBA, i do understand why. Still i think it's good to watch especially if it's a rivalry game or the playoffs. The Greek Freek in Milwaukee is the next big thing for sure...

In other NBA news, Anthony Davis injured and helped off the floor AGAIN!!! I wonder if AD grew so much so fast that his body just didn't develop right over time? Love AD and as much as both me and the Celtics want him in Boston, just not sure he can give you a full 82 plus playoffs in a season, very fragile player, lucky he didn't get hurt on our Championship run....................
