Daviess County - Wayne Chapman (Rex's Dad)

Basketball team wasn't very good when I was in school. (Football team was worse)

Played football at UK in the mid 60's, and also got a hand written letter from Adolph Rupp, asking him to walk on the Basketball team. Other players include, Anthony Parker, graduated a year ahead of me, All- American honorable mention. Played football at Memphis State, then professionally with the Memphis Showboats of the USFL, and with Calgary and BC in the CFL. a few a little younger are Randy Taylor and Homer Patton. both played football at Murray State. Arron Ferrell played basketball at UT-Martin about 13-14 years ago.
The greatest athlete to ever play at Fulton City was a guy named David Peeples in the late 60S. Closest thing to Barry Sanders I ever saw. A catastrophic knee injury ruined his college career but anyone who ever saw him play will never forget it.

Little before my time, as I didn't move to Fulton until 1972. Tried googling him, but came up empty. Did a different search and found him. Seem he went to college at UT- Martin, which back then was only a D2 school, IF that. He might have been Barry-esque, but I'll take Parker over him all day every day, and twice on Sundays.

Ohio County HS Class of 81. We had no best player. It was so bad they gave out LVP awards.

As a teenager In Owensboro, I recall Ohio County playing in the finals of the Kentucky boys state tourney in the late 60's. They had one of the smallest lineups in the tourney and I believe they lost to a school from Louisville. Don't remember any of their players or if any went on to play college ball.

It was mostly downhill from there.
