Not many at all I would guess. Maybe zero.

He was 6'5" and probably around 250-260, which is great size for the 12th Region. Huge kid, great hands, solid touch around the rim. Probably scored 80% of his points on back-downs and just drawing fouls.

So he did it the old fashioned way which is good. I still think alot of these records would be untouchable with the 3 point shot in place way back when. Still pretty impressive to break Hanson's record, he was a beast in his high school days...

In high school most of these gaudy stats have to do with when the kid started playing.

Some of these kids are starting varsity in the eighth grade. My high school's all-time leading scorer was getting some varsity time as a seventh grader. Six years of stats there.

This is more common with girls' basketball. Girls are often physically mature enough to play against varsity players when they're in middle school. It's very common to see sixth and seventh graders out there playing varsity basketball, so you'll see some of these girls with insane numbers at the end of their playing careers.

This is very true especially for the smaller schools, i can attest to that on a personal note myself. I started playing high school golf in the 6th grade and though it's hard to gauage stats in golf, i have to be the career leader in wins at that school lol lol....

No Cliff Hagan, Mike Phillips, or Rick Robey. There is a lot more than that. You left out a bunch.

                Robey has been taken.

Larry Conley,Lou Tsroupolis (sp?) Tom Parker, Jim Andrews and the list goes on and on. Rupp always said one his best players he ever had was Leroy Edwards who played on some of first teams at UK in the 1930's.

I find it interesting that none of us have brought up some of the recent comments from or about Briscoe. Now that he's moved on, Briscoe doesn't seem to have a lot of love for UK. He's very quick to shut down any Kentucky talk and gets very prickly any time he's asked about his time as a Cat.

And in a recent KSR live chat, Drew Franklin said that someone very close to the team said that a lot of this past season's players hated Briscoe, and that he (the source) heard one of our players say that part of him hoped we didn't win the championship just so that Isaiah didn't have the satisfaction of winning.

Interesting. Hope that isn't true but you can kind of see with Briscoe's personality how it might be.

The comments he made about wanting to stop talking about Kentucky I can understand...but a guy like him should be talking about Kentucky. You would think his connection to this program--and Cal--would be a benefit to him as he's trying to separate himself from all the other guys at the end of the draft.

If he makes the NBA it'll likely have to be the absolute best situation possible, a la Andrew Harrison.

Andrew Harrison can do so many more things that are intriguing for NBA teams than Isaiah Briscoe.

And, in hindsight, I can definitely believe that story about him. He always seemed a bit .. temperamental.

I think I commented during the season that Briscoe may be a problem to the team. He seemed to always be barking at someone. After a bit that can get old. So that doesn't surprise me at all.

My friend is head security for Carmelo's gym in New York and had told me about Briscoe dating back to his junior year in high school. He never said anything good or bad of Briscoe in particular but being he's from New York with the mentality that some of those kids have, i can see someone like Briscoe acting hard and trying to show out. Maybe he came to college to play point guard and it all went south, who knows? Bottomline, some players do not respond to be bullied or told what to do by others. As i mentioned last year, it was all cute for the fans to have the smallest guy on the court Tyler Ulis barking at everyone but some players don't want to hear it. At the end of the day, teammates are still competitive with one another and they don't look at each other with the same respect as us fans view them ass. I also think it' the domino effect every year where one player leaves, other that are not ready feel the pressure they need to so they are not looked upon as a failure.....

Joe Crawford could do way more things than I. Briscoe along with many other 6'3/6'5 guards we have had in the past. Bottomline, Briscoe just wasn't as good as advertised in my opinion...........

Yeah. I wanted Crawford on my team.
