I disagree that some of Cal's players can't compare to past players in terms of what they did at Kentucky.
Delk is just a great player regardless. He can stand up against any Cal player and hold his own. But with some of these Calipari guys there's obvious advantages that a person can tell just by watching them on a given night.
Just one example off the top of my head is John Wall vs. Wayne Turner. Turner had a great college career but is anybody going to look at those two players and think that taking Turner would be a good idea? If so, then you probably don't have walking-around sense.Comment

Whole point is this, we base this off what players did while at Kentucky but if that's the case, you can forget about Cal and his players unless it's someone on the 12 team. I mean really, what have any of these players did while at Kentucky, USE US TO GET TO THE NBA?? Yes John Wall, Cousins, Towns, and all these players looked great in a UK uniform but can't compare to what kids like Delk, Turner, and many others actually did for Kentucky not only in the career total of wins losses category, but for all time statistics as well.......
Come on, JWORLD. I know you get this. You're just being contrarian, as usual.Comment

Because you watched them both play. You don't have to see four years of Wall to know that he was a better player.Comment

The stats are obviously important, but they don't tell the whole story. Everyone participating (presumably) knows enough about basketball - specifically our players - to know a good player when we see one, regardless of that player's stats. So no, we won't have four years' worth of data for KAT when deciding between him and whoever, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't take him in the first round. We all saw enough out of him to know what he was capable of, and his stats - especially the second half of the season and when viewed relative to his minutes - prove that his big nights weren't just flash-in-the-pan sort of outings.

We select only players that played at Kentucky and it is based on their accomplishments while in school. Not the pros.Comment

One year of Davis was better than any four year center UK has had. That is pretty obvious. It just takes the eyeball test on some of these players. Stats never tell the entire story. Some people like to think that but they don't. Seeing a player for your own eyes tells you more about them than an accumulation of stats.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

No, but we all saw enough to know that Wall was the better player.
Seriously, dude. I want you in on this thing, but if you're going to have this much trouble the whole time we're playing, just find something else to do.Comment

Here's my whole point. With the great players we have been lucky enough to get with Coach Calipari, moving on to the next level and being very successful in the NBA should ACTUALLY count in the voting process, to me it does mean something. When you have players leaving early to go on and dominate at the next level against the very best players in the world, that has to account for sometthing............Comment

Of course John Wall was better. I just think we need to consider what some of our guys are doing at the next level when we start talking about the greatest players to ever play at Kentucky. Not our fault most of these guys are one and done. Still, if it's about what they accomplished at KENTUCKY, then i am sorry, most of Cal's guys are at the bottom of the list........Comment
