I don't blame the players for leaving for the $$$. The rule needs to be changed

This is discouraging to me. Bamba doesn't want to share time with another 1st rounder? I so dislike the one and done rule. There has to be something that can change this to at least 2 years some way some how. A player doesn't want competition for a place in the draft? Really? The UK pays thousands and thousands of dollars to coddle and take care of these frosh. They are royalty!!! Education? Phooey. Saw where someone said if you have a job and you do well early on, you will be rewarded by your superiors. These players (not student athletes) are doing a job? I think someone should form a school (?????) for one and dones. Rant over. Time for a decaf coffee and to calm down. And yes. I am old school.
PS...I am a huge UK fan. Was born and raised blue. Thoroughly enjoy all their sports. Have had season football tickets since the fall of '69. BTW, my bill for 4 seats, non KFund is very expensive. Because of Mel and WCF, have made many close friends. So when your rebuttals start, don't judge my being a big fan
Let's face it: if somebody would've offered me millions of dollars to do my dream job after my freshman year of college, I would've dropped school quicker than a hiccup. And you would've, too.
The only real solution would be to get rid of the one and done rule completely and let them jump ship straight from high school, but I think that would be horrible for the quality of college basketball. The infusion of NBA-ready talent has made the quality of the game improve exponentially. Without these guys, it would be pretty ugly most of the time.Comment

So if they changed the rule to two years and De'Aaron Fox had to come back to play for another year and blew out his knee, shattering his lifelong dream in a million pieces, would you still feel the same way?

But I don't like the one and done either. If they are good enough to go pro out of high school then they should be allowed. The NBA loves the one and done because it gives them a chance to see how these perform against the same level talent. They got burned on guys coming out of high school with reputations built on playing against lessor talent.Comment

I would go now if they offered me millions to play basketball. I can't blame these kids for going. I do wish there was a system in place to allow them to come back after the draft if they don't like the position or if they weren't drafted. There is a way for that to work. Larry Bird was drafted by the Celtics after his junior year of college, {when he would have been a senior had he not transferred}, and still played his senior year. If they could make it work back then they can make it work today.

And I don't like it, if true. That's two big men to transfer from Duke. Makes me wonder what's happening with Bamba.
EDIT: Make it three transfers (the Obi kid left, too), plus Giles is heading for the draft. There's suddenly a lot of room for Big Mo. No sir, I don't like it one bit.Last edited by George; 04-02-2017, 08:28 PM.Comment

If Bolden is transferring, is there any chance Cal would make a run at him? I didn't get a look at him this year so I'm not sure if he'd even be worth it. Anyone know? I can think of worse things than stashing a kid away for a year to add a little seasoning to another young roster in '18-'19.Comment
