This is discouraging to me. Bamba doesn't want to share time with another 1st rounder? I so dislike the one and done rule. There has to be something that can change this to at least 2 years some way some how. A player doesn't want competition for a place in the draft? Really? The UK pays thousands and thousands of dollars to coddle and take care of these frosh. They are royalty!!! Education? Phooey. Saw where someone said if you have a job and you do well early on, you will be rewarded by your superiors. These players (not student athletes) are doing a job? I think someone should form a school (?????) for one and dones. Rant over. Time for a decaf coffee and to calm down. And yes. I am old school.

PS...I am a huge UK fan. Was born and raised blue. Thoroughly enjoy all their sports. Have had season football tickets since the fall of '69. BTW, my bill for 4 seats, non KFund is very expensive. Because of Mel and WCF, have made many close friends. So when your rebuttals start, don't judge my being a big fan

^ Note that the poster is only speculating. Nobody knows what Bamba's thought process may be.

In the event of Bam's return (unlikely), he'd likely move to the 4 (his natural position) and Bamba would be the 5. No reason at all they can't play together.

And also, regarding getting an education Mo Bamba is one guy who is going to value that. This is a guy who was considering Harvard at one point.

Wanting to play in the NBA doesn't necessarily mean you don't value education.

What percentage of Wildcatnation got its college degree in four years?

I think the more important question is what percentage of WCN would've left school early if offered their dream job making millions of dollars. I know I would have.

                I'd say about 100%.

                  That's a conservative estimate.

I wouldn't have said this two weeks ago, but I sure hope he's wrong about Humphries.

I've been a BIG outspoken Humphries fan since day one....

I said on here and still believe he got an unfair shake last year. We had guys out of position all season last year. Hump is one of those guys who needs to be allowed to fail some in games to learn and get better. He's a gamer though.

What he did against UNC didn't surprise me as much as it may have many (except the last pull-up jumper from 19 ft lol).... he's got skills and can rebound well when he is engaged and not expecting to be pulled at his 1st mistake. The rest of his game gathers energy from his offense....he plays better when he has gotten a bucket or hit a jumper on offense....

People that were at the open practices were saying he was nearly automatic on jumpers and even out to 24-25 feet. Dude can shoot, he just finally got hot in a game....and hopefully built a lot of confidence from that.

He is contemplating playing professionally in Australia vs. continuing the process at UK. He will likely never get huge mins here but could and should be the backup 5 man for the next two seasons....just depends on if he wants to pursue play for pay now or later IMO.

I said very early in this thread -- BEFORE the UNC game -- that I hope Humphries stays. He is young, and I think will be way better than any of us give him credit for. It will haunt us if he leaves.

I hope he stays as well. It's going to be really hard for him to see the floor next year if we add Bamba, but his strength and experience would be good for these young guys. He showed he can play in a huge game and that counts for something.

One thing he obviously has to do is cut the baby fat. He improved his body from his freshman to sophomore year but he needs to make another leap on that front this summer. His footspeed is still lacking in pretty profound ways, and that affects his ability to rebound out of his area and to play without fouling.

Humphries was just a baby when he got here. Only 17. He is just now starting to mature. I think if he stays he will be a good contributor. He probably should have been red shirted last year but UK had virtually no big men so Cal had no choice. I hope he stays but understand if wanted to move on.

If he can return to his home and make money playing basketball he should go. Hope he stays but making a living at something you enjoy is a dream come true.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Be thousands of miles from home, having to attend classes and play for your education only, or be at home and get paid to play. It seems like a easy decision to me.
