Chad Ford (The Official "Which UK Players Will Leave" Thread)

I saw Ford said Bam and Briscoe are both 50/50 on returning. Wouldn't that be nice?

That would be crazy. Where'd you see this?

With some polish Bam Adebayo could be a freakin' superstar.

I have a very hard time believing this though simply because of the conditions Bam grew up in. I think it's pretty clear that he's going to be borderline first round, and you have to think he'll make a team at his size, so it's not a huge risk.

Briscoe will never play in the NBA without a dynamic and total overhaul of his shot. Not sure that can be accomplished at the college level, if ever.

I don't have a link but it is in another board. They also mention that Cal recently said something along the lines of "If you return, you return to be great." You have to think he isn't referring to Wenyen or SKJ.

Also, Bam will be a 4 in the NBA. I think he would greatly increase his stock if he came back and was able to play that position next year. We could have Isaac, Richards, and maybe Bamba at the 5.

A Bam/Bamba frontcourt would not only be spectacularly named, it would also be one of the most talented this program has seen since Bowie/Turpin.

I'd put the odds of it happening though at very, very slim. Unfortunately.

Briscoe possibly, although I seriously doubt it. Bam, no chance in my opinion.

Don't worry about it. Neither will be back.

For the experience and toughness, yes. He would be so much more if he could shoot.

The only pitch to Briscoe would be that he could play more point guard next year than he has.

Quade is going to be a fine player, but he's not quite on the level of Fox and obviously Ulis. There's going to be a learning curve there. So Briscoe could get some extended minutes there, something he's never really been able to do because of the freakazoids he's had at that position his first two years.

He obviously didn't help his stock at all this season and probably hurt it. But it's weird: I think he was a hugely valuable player down the stretch. I found myself for probably the first time in his career saying aloud, "Get the ball to Briscoe" in the North Carolina game.

The uncertainty of Bam's immediate future could very possibly hurt us in getting a commit from Bamba. Not sure Bamba would want to share time with another 1st Rd candidate. That said, I recently read an article within which Bamba was quoted saying he was in no hurry to commit.

As others have noted, Bam is a true 4. He was playing in the pivot this year out of necessity. He could easily play as a kind of rim-running Tyler Hansborough-esque power forward alongside a true center.

I could see him coming back, especially if he'd get to showcase himself at his natural position.
