I disagree, but we're all free Americans in here.
Edit - UNC's was institutional, I guess, so in that regard I see your point. I just can't move past the hookers thing, though.Last edited by Dwight Schrute; 03-24-2017, 09:09 AM.👍 1Comment

My feeling is the NCAA will be satisfied with the one-year tournament ban and scholarship limits UofL took...but that it will suspend Rick Pitino for part of the next ACC season.Comment

May not be illegal in North Carolina but there darn sure should be some charges filed for large scale academic fraud at a state/taxpayer funded institution of higher learning.Comment

I'm reasonably sure academic fraud doesn't rise to the level of a criminal offense unless people are actively socking away public dollars. I wouldn't think UNC's rises to that level.
You know what does rise to the level of a criminal offense? Hiring prostitutes for minors.Comment

Absolutely. And at no point have I or will I defend UL. But as far as who deserves the worst punishment...I'd say at UL the parties should be criminally charged and prosecuted and the basketball program get hit hard with recruiting violations and lack of institutional control. At UNC it would seem about right that if they continue to try to get out of punishment because its way bigger than the athletic department then the NCAA should go ahead and kick them out as a member as the NCAA is for schools who have real classes with actual coursework. It went on for 18 years until someone blew the whistle and then the whole school started trying to get out of punishment.
They've admitted it all happened but their argument in essence is that since it went all the way to the top in their institution the NCAA has no jurisdiction to punish. They say the NCAA has no authority to determine what constitutes coursework in any given school. Even though they themselves have admitted it was a sham department with fake classes since it was OK with the entire school all the way up to the president/chancellor the NCAA can't say they can't give credit for it!
NCAA should say you accept punishment in proportion to what other schools have been hit with or they're out. In this case if they've basically not had any players that WERE eligible for 18 years they'd vacate...what...500-600 wins and 2 championships. Do that and UNC is basically not even college basketball royalty anymore. But to me that's how egregious this scandal is. It's filthy. If that were the way all schools were doing business I'd be out as a college sports fan.
Let's not forget the NCAA still claims its primarily about student athletes and education. This is at the heart of it.Last edited by Catsrock; 03-24-2017, 02:18 PM.Comment

UofL meeting with NCAA Committee on Infractions today.....
Sweet, sweet justice could be laid down today! Or, nothing at all could be done....could go either way or somehwere in between IMO. (But shouldn't be anything less than vacated wins IMO)
Any further penalty, if there is any, will be handed out today. Expected to be an all-day session.

I'm no U of L lover, but if they dropped the hammer on me, and let UNC off scott free, I'd be looking into the possibility of a discrimination lawsuit.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment
