I'm, not saying now or then that Nova wasn't a good team. They were a good team. They were not a top 10 team. They should not have a been a 1 or 2 seed. It doesn't matter what they did last year either. We didn't get in the tourney in '13 after winning in '12. Why didn't UK get all the northeast love about defending?
I think Nova was a legit #1, for two reasons:
1: The did just win the championship, last year.
2: Someone HAD to be a #1. Nova just happened to not lose at the right time of the year.
But, I agree with you. They were no power #1. Eventually, the season ends and you have to seed teams.
The talking heads talked Nova into a 1 seed.
Same with UVA. Been telling y'all about them too. They weren't great on defense. They just play slow ball. Basketball is an offensive game at it's very core. You don't see shutouts in basketball.
UVA was just as phony as Nova. Jay Bias nonetheless. (Bias is intentional).Comment

Treat them like Wichita State.
I had no problem with them being seeded a #1 and it doesn't surprise me they lost. How many teams have repeated? Florida was the last but it happens rarely.

I would have seeded them a 3. If you want to go by records then why is Wichita St seeded so low?
Nova is a paper team. I'm glad they beat UNC last year but they were a paper team last year too. They got a dUKe path to the FF last year and played terrific once they got there. It was still an aberration. They won't be a blip on the radar for 3 or 4 season now.
And if you want to go by records then Illinois St should have been in the tourney.Comment

No, but that's a completely different discussion than where they should have been seeded.
Better teams and/or higher-seeded teams get knocked out all the time. That's more about the unpredictability of this sport than anything.
Villanova peaked in January. They were getting nothing at the end of the season from the guy that led them to the title last year. But they still did more than enough in the regular season to put them on the 1 line.Comment
