    2017 Draft Status

I know we all hate talking about this and even though the season isn't over I wanted to start a thread where we can talk about Mock drafts and rumors of staying or leaving.

This is NOT a thread to discuss how much we love or hate the one and done era, this is just to talk about players leaving or staying!

As of now, Monk and Fox are still projected lottery picks.

Bam keeps dropping and is still hanging on to the bottom of the first round.

Briscoe is hanging on by a thread as a second round pick....#60 on one site.

Bam has played better lately and with a good effort the next few weeks i'm sure he will stay in the first round, you just have to wonder what his family's financial situation is because I may be wrong but I think another year under his belt could help him work his way into the lottery.

Gabriel and Diallo are still not mentioned in any Mock drafts.

I am surprised at Briscoe still being considered. Hope it works out for him if he leaves.

I don't think it will, but the last thing I want on next years team is a player that doesn't want to be here and is not giving it 110%

Whether they're ready or not, Bam, Fox, Monk and Briscoe if he can find some place to go. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if we have someone transfer.

I wouldn't read to much into the projections on Bam. He started off rough but now that the light has clicked on, he's a top 20 pick and will only get better. He has shown now that he can get out and defend, he can hit his free throws, rebounding has improved, and I think he can develop a mid range jumper down the road.

As for Fox, it's New York or the 76ers in my opinion and for Monk it just depends on who needs what and when.

Briscoe, I can't see it but he will get drafted second round and will take a Archie Goodwin path in my opinion....

For what it's worth, don't be surprised D. Willis doesn't end up on someone's team to see if he can develop more. Still hard to find guys his size who can handle the ball and shoot the way he can. Yes he may not be the best defender in the world but good shooters are still hard to come by....

Bam still looks to me like he has the kind of explosiveness that should keep him in the first round. I think he'll impress people in the workouts and still expect him to go. Can play well above the rim, and with his physique that means something. His shooting touch is also very nice for a guy his size.

Next year's team needs to keep Wenyen but that's going to be a young team even by Cal's standards. Would expect him to try and go after a graduate transfer.

Possible Bam was thinking too much early on, I don't know. All I know is that he's a completely different player now than a month ago, it's night and day....

I think Bam, Monk, and Fox are all gone. The NBA loves to draft on potential and Bam is loaded with it. He'll go first round and the other two top ten. Briscoe will try. He'll do everything he can. At this point he has to think if he can improve his stock much by coming back next year. If he shoots 35% from 3 and 70% from the line as a junior does he move into the first round? He isn't a big guard but rebounds well and hasn't had much of an opportunity to showcase his PG skills playing off the ball. I think he'd benefit if he improved his shot more but only if he got the chance to play PG full time next year.

Gabriel will be back, Isaac and Tai will be back, I wouldn't be shocked if SKJ transfers. We will be young next season. Easily the youngest team in the country.

Briscoe is not an NBA player. Can he become one? Doubtful. He can't shoot and he is not especially athletic for his size. No way he plays the 3 in the NBA, which is what he plays here. Certainly not the 2 and he's not a 1.

Briscoe reminds me of Mateen Cleaves(Michigan State) and Vinny "the Microwave" Johnson whom played for the Pistons minus the consistent jumper. Briscoe seems to be better suited to stay another year but unless he can deliver a consistent jumper-he's a tweener. I hope I am wrong but he must develop his game more to be an impact at the next level.

Obviously Monk and Fox are lottery picks but IMHO if Bam would keep improving and stick around one more year then he's a lock for a lottery pick next year. Just think of how dominant he would be one year from now after working on his game even more! Maybe it's me just dreaming of our team next year with him still down low. Lol

Briscoe is a very good college player and could become a great one. But, IMO, the only reason anyone even thinks about him leaving for the NBA is the name on the front of his jersey, not the name on the back. Briscoe is tough and gritty and at times shows incredible determination. But, as I have been saying for a long time, and as BJD mentions above, he is not quick enough or athletic enough to play the 1, he is not a good enough shooter, and probably never will be, to play the 2, and he is too small to play the 3. But, that having been said, I would fully expect him to test the waters at the next level. And, I wish him well and hope he proves me wrong.

One thing you can say about Briscoe: in about fifteen years he'll be the best rec league player that ever lived.
