I'm not clicking on the link and giving him another "hit"....it seems about every 6 months someone has to come out with a piece slamming UK or ex UK players because they know it will get a rise out of everyone.

Totally agree. It seems such an obvious point, especially for someone who spends so much of his life talking about sports.

As to maturity and some of these players - I agree regarding Cousins. Mystifying why he lumps Davis and Wall in that group.
Cowherd has always hated Wall. My theory is he saw the Wall dance back when Wall was at UK and it stuck with him for some reason. It was Cowherd IIRC who mentioned Wall's imprisoned biological father on the air at one point.

Cowherd lost me back in the first week when he took over for Tony Kornheiser on ESPN radio. He went off on some rant about HOF MLB of the past not being able to compete in todays game. Which is just stupid. He's all for the shock effect nothing more. If people would quit reacting to him he would go away,

Actually and I know you guys are going to possibly rip me but what he is indicating is pretty accurate - but when he goes on, he is saying many things that doesn't prove his point....

1.) Up until the Calipari era - UK has not had any big superstar NBA players. That is a fact. Yes - Issel, Walker, Chapman, Bowie, Mash had some good solid careers but there has not been a superstar from UK in the likes of Bird, Magic, Jordan, and that type of player - more so talking - a top 50/75 all time NBA player. He is accurate in this part of his rants.

2.) With the Calipari era - Here's where he gets off track. He's comparing them to NBA titles and the current crop of UK players like Davis, Wall, Cousins don't have an NBA title yet and that is a fact. But what he is missing is that they all have been lottery picks that have went to bad teams and are still poor teams. Davis, Wall, Cousins, Townes have proven they are some of the best players in the NBA today. Booker and Bledsoe are close there as well. All on bad teams.

THEN he even references guys like Shane Battier which is where he gets totally off track. Battier has NBA championships because he was on a team with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. LeBron and Wade are two top all time NBA players. Battier had a good career but you can't use him as an example. Same with when he goes to Lowery. Yes - Lowery is one of the top players in the NBA today but he only has an NBA title because he's playing with LeBron... Hell LeBron didn't win a championship until he teamed up with Wade and Bosh.

So - Cowherd is correct in saying that UK has not produced the top elite NBA players of all time (to date). But - some of his examples and arguments are totally off base. In time - I have no doubt that some of the players today from UK will be some of the top elite NBA players of all time.

OH - and for the few that did post above about how UK players had a good weekend and such at the all-star game or what AD did --- PLEASE do not use that as any type of measurement. The entire NBA all-star weekend is a complete joke.

Sorry for some typos - throwing this on quickly while at work : )

^ It was weird that on the first day Cowherd launched into Cal's NBA players...and then for the second tirade he blasted UK for not having many decent NBA players until Cal.

I think he was just throwing stuff at the wall for the most part. IIRC Cowherd has claimed to not watch much NBA and zero college basketball. The worth of a guy like MKG to this program couldn't be explained to someone like Cowherd. It'd be like trying to explain physics to an infant.

It's meaningless because he doesn't really care about Kentucky or its players in the NBA. He found a pot of troll-gold in the BBN and he's going to ride it for a few days.

Only issue I have with your comment is Cowherd doesn't bring up pre-Cal era UK players, unless I missed something.

Listening to that again my other peeve is Cowherd can't pronounce Calipari for crap. It doesn't rhyme with the squid seafood appetizer...................

In the second link he talks about how poor Kentucky did with NBA players before Cal.

I have no idea who this Cowherd guy is(didn't read the link).....never heard of the guy. He's free to offer his opinion and I'm free to ignore it. Simple.
