First of all, I trust Coach Cal 100% in who he plays. No way he's letting hard working talent just sit on that bench, period.

I'm not completely ready to call him out as another former Kentucky McDonald's All-American Rashaad Carruth, but I can tell you this, their bench presence is quite similar. He wasn't just disinterested sitting on the bench, but he was constantly cutting up and distracting the other players on the bench when they came out of the game. He caused a major disruption in "Team Chemistry" and was a cancer on the team. Thankfully he transferred after his freshman season and two more times during college career, including getting kicked of the team in Oklahoma.

One thing I do know, any player who accepts personal responsibility for his playing time doesn't sit there and sulk on the bench.

^ I'd completely forgotten about Carruth and Oklahoma.

IIRC he ended up with Larry Eustachy at Southern Miss. He might have also been dismissed there.

In my opinion, he's just saying the right things. I still think he's gone after this season.

I saw where Eustachy got into trouble again. Some allegations about player abuse. That guy was/is a total loon.

Carruth didn't last anywhere. Total waste of talent.
            Kentucky fan since 1971.

The official report was he left Southern Miss for "personal reasons". In Oklahoma he failed a drug test before he ever got to play and was kicked out. I forgot that he also had a short stint at some JUCO in Iowa. Bottom line, 4 schools = trouble. This from a kid many thought might go straight to the pros out of high school. He was the epitome of wasted opportunities.

Did you remember too, that he was the kid whose antics first brought to light that Tubby had stopped making in-home visits? Tubby tried to blame Carruth on his assistants and didn't consider the backlash he would get for not making the home visit in the first place.

Carruth was Eustachy's very first recruit at Southern Miss. Pretty risky kid to hitch your wagon to in a brand new job, eh?
