I'll add to the ugly Monk's few minute stretch of forcing bad shots. I know the kid is dynamic and can score in bunches, but he has come close to shooting us out of a few games.

I agree. He just kind of roams the perimeter looking for his shot.

You have to love us Kentucky fans. We almost gave away the LSU game and played horrible defense, 77 responses in the Good, Bad, Ugly thread. With the exception of about eight minutes our defensive intensity was as high as it's been all season and we played the best game we've played in a few weeks, 17 responses.

Briscoe is one of the more frustrating dudes to ever come through here, but he's also one of the toughest. This team needs him, without a doubt.

Really, I don't think this team is selfish at all, they all just want to be the guy to make the play to win the game so bad, that they try to take it on individually. Ball movement and extra passes are the hallmark of a good team offensively and when this team does that they look so much better, like all teams do.

I agree with what you are saying here, but I don't think any player on our team gets quite the quantity of unsuccessful drives down the lane as Briscoe does. It's one piece of his game that he really needs to tidy up. He needs to finish those shots, stop driving on 3 defenders, or start dishing them out. I feel like in his mind, he is 6'10" and can drive on any one, or any three players defending the rim.

But happy to see his defensive commitment today and 11 rebounds is a pretty significant improvement. 4 assists could easily have been 7-8 if he hadn't been driving the lane in poor opportunities. And as our more seasoned Cat, leading the team with 4 turnovers isn't exactly what we need from him either. He still has much room for improvement.

Only one way to fix that.

Don't know what category this is but why do Willis and others have such a short leash from Cal and others have no leash at all? Seems like a lot of pressure on those with a short leash.

Willis has a replacement in Gabriel. Easy to replace him because Gabriel gives at least as much, often more.

Much harder to replace the others. If you bench Monk because of the defense or rebounding, that's great in theory...but think about what it would do. It would blow a hole in the offense. Briscoe sometimes goes to the point, but 80% of the time this year it's an obvious downgrade. Hawkins plays for Briscoe and gives us solid minutes, but we all know his deficiencies.

Just not a whole lot of quality depth on this team. Yesterday was actually one of the bench's best games.

I think one reason for Willis is because he's a senior and shouldn't make freshmen mistakes like the freshmen do.

I guess that goes for Mulder as well.
