Either he's a moron or he's just playing games with the media.

Either way, he's going to get his tail kicked in 48 hours.

It makes no difference what he says to the media, he has a plan to muddy up this game because that's the only chance he has. No way his bigs can run with Kentucky. And Snider can only wave at Fox as he blows by. No way UL is running with us.

UL has a great defense and they have 3-4 big guys who are fairly serviceable. Lot's of fouls to give. But they are thin at the guard and have no go to guy for scoring. Snider is their best threat. Adele is really good at the 3/4 when he is on. He's been wildly inconsistent this year.

They are not going to run with UK. No way, no how. People are not falling for 15 second Rick and that nonsense. They are going to do everything they can to muddy up the game and keep it in the 60's. Hack, slap, trip and press. UL defense.

UK is the better team but we will have to play through the rock fight to win, IMO. We will need to hit FTs (which we have not the last 5-6 games) and be strong with the ball. We've been really good with the ball and no having turnovers and that will need to continue.

Our problems will be underneath. Humphries and Gabriel will HAVE to have decent games and hit the boards.

Who will be the surprise hero this year? It was Hawkins last year.

In the five games I've seen the guy they literally always lean on when they need a basket is Mitchell.

He basically won the game single-handedly against Old Dominion when they had no business winning. In other games he's had these little four- to five-minute stretches where he kind of controls the action.

If he Justin Jacksons us even for those little stretches, Louisville probably wins. Because I think they can stop us in the halfcourt and keep us well off our average. Their defense is legit.

Baylor got them in transition late in that game. Louisville will go through these long periods where they just can't put the ball in the basket, so if Kentucky can get them on our patented 10-2 types of runs, we can come out of there with a W.

Cal's teams traditionally struggle on the road in their first go-round, which is obvious because of our youth. I would hope that the brutality of Saturday's game and the UCLA loss toughened some of these guys up and they're ready for the first road crowd more than our teams have been in the Cal era.

UL is a paper tiger. It's the ole Big East type schedule to load up on cupcakes at home to look better than you are.

We are 20 points better than UL. At their place give them 5 so we win by 15.

I'm sure he'll do what he always does which is make the game an ugly grind-out affair. They need to put Bam in foul trouble to have a chance. We get exposed when we're relying on Humphries or Willis for more than a couple minutes at a time.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty confident that our guys aren't gonna overlook U of L or be intimidated by the hostile road atmosphere.

They're much better than that. I saw them take a solid Purdue team and basically never give them a real chance. They were thrashing a good Baylor team until the very end.

They aren't as good as Kentucky but on their home court they could easily win this game. They're excellent defensively and they have tremendous size.

Pitino is really good at taking the other team's best out (see Duncan, Tim). He'll have Mitchell on Monk and you would think those guys might play to a draw. We have a huge advantage at the point guard position but they have an advantage inside. I think both those things even and it'll come down to somebody you don't expect, like it usually does in this game (see Harrellson, Jorts).

Kentucky should win but if it's double digits I'll be shocked.

Cal is 2-5 in his first road games of the season. That has me concerned.

My break thru player is Bam. He stays out of foul trouble and hits his FFs. Monk and Fox play cleanup and Gabriel has a good night. Yes... I want this win. Makes life at my house easier. I never trash talk with Bird hubby. Won't be the same with him. Have to keep in mind what the outcome of the football game was. This is a big rivalry game. RP will be out for blood. GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!

Yeah, there is that myth about Pitino and preparation. Who wouldn't double team Duncan at Wake? It's not like they had anyone else. So he outcoached Dave Odom one time? Really?

At UK Cal is 8-1 against Pitino. The 1 was the worst team Cal has had here. Purdue is just cement footed little 10 team. They will be exposed as the season goes forward.

And UL lost to Baylor. Not a real good example there. And lost with an epic fold.

UL prepared for us by playing Eastern at home. We prepared for UL by playing UNC on a neutral court.

We won't blow them out simply because it's a rivalry game. But they can't play with us.

That isn't a myth at all.

I heard Cal once say at a clinic that Pitino was so prepared that in that UMASS/UK in the '96-'96 season, Cal actually planted a rumor in the media that they might play zone. He did this because he knew Pitino was a madman as far as getting his teams ready and he would think Cal really was going to play zone.

                              They didn't, of course.

You can say a lot of things about Pitino, but that he doesn't get his teams ready to play isn't one of them. He'll have a gameplan. The problem is that talent on the floor usually trumps a solid gameplan...and Cal is a better coach than people give him credit for. He'll have a plan too.
