They need to throw out of the Wildcat. I have no idea if Snell or Boom could throw at all but they have to at least show it a couple of times so the opponent will respect that. Once they showed UGA with one defender covering two receivers near the goal line because they knew UK wasn't going to throw the ball out of the Wildcat.

Johnson's QB rating is 127.4 and that is 7th in the SEC. Turn that any way you would like but it is the highest rating we've had for a QB in the last 5 years or so. He's won some games for us with his arm and his legs. I think he deserves a little more credit than he's gotten. This rating would be even higher if several well thrown balls had not been dropped. The reasoning is that when he's on the field the defense has to account for him. This Georgia team beat NC at NC. They had UT beat in Knoxville except for a last gasp hail Mary pass. I agree he's isn't Zack Prescott. Not many of those around.👍 1Comment

I have been watching football for 60 of my 65 years. I watched and played grade school football and high school football and I watch a TON of college football and a fair amount of pro football. I think in those 60 years I have seen the fade route work one time -- last year vs EKU. OK, that is probably an exaggeration, but I can honestly say I think I have seen more successful Hail Mary passes than fade routes. Whoever invented that play should have a place in the football Hall of Infamy.Comment

I either read, or heard, someone say the reason it is used so much is because it's a very safe pass. Either the person you're throwing it to catches it, or no one does.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

That was the reason. Stoops didn't want a turnover at that point. If Johnson throws over the middle in the end zone there's a good chance that gets picked off and its game over at that point.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

I believe he is the best chance UK has. After Barker went down, I don't think there is any way Hinshaw and Gran would NOT have asked Mark Stoops to pull Hoaks red shirt if he was remotely ready to play. They are trying to build a program as well as make it to a bowl. There is no evidence that Barker will be able to return OR if he does will be granted a second ( medical this time) redshirt year.

I was just getting ready to ask if another back could be put in or is there some kind of trick play they could draw up while in the wildcatComment

Why not? I mean if you're obviously not going to throw the ball out of this formation why not add a few little wrinkles just to keep the defense honest? Can you imagine putting Boom, Benny and JoJo back there together and running the veer or a little triple option, plus keep all of the downhill stuff they're running for Benny already. At least make it a little harder to prepare for what you're doing offensively.Comment
