With the SEC East looking fairly medicore and Alabama in the west still looking for a QB the SEC may have a hard time getting a team into the playoffs.
I'm not sure if it was so much a case of being overrated or overconfident. Time will tell.

Musburger was ready to crown UT national champs and anoint Jones as the second coming of Vince Lombardi last night.

Overconfidence may have played a part but if Tennessee is as good as they say they would worn down Appy State and pulled away in the 4th qtr. Unless they show me differently they are way overrated.

I sure hope you're right, Kevin.

I think they didn't want to show too much because of the tough games they have coming up.

But he was conservative to a fault. It really shouldn't have worked out. They had no business winning.

As they go on I think you'll see Dobbs throw the ball more, and that's where they're dangerous with their running game. Last night it was one run play after another, all night.

They were protecting the playbook IMO.

They better save something. That stretch of at Georgia, at Texas A&M and Alabama in 3 straight weeks is just brutal.

Appalachian St. wins the game if their kicker can kick. Missed extra point, missed field goal. That's the game.

And Tennessee fumbled the ball THREE TIMES, including the time in overtime, and jumped on it every time.

In short they got lucky. What amazed me is how conservative Butch Jones and his o-coordinator was. One deep ball the whole game and it went for a touchdown. Other than that it was pretty much one run after another, and it almost got them beat.
A guy on the comments section on ESPN last night said the O and D Coordinators for UT are the same guys who were at Michigan when Apps beat then 9 years ago. I remember that Michigan team started out Top 5 but was a dumpster fire all season.

I remember something happening on Thursday night. Really foggy on the details for some reason though...

Seriously though, I hope this was a case of being talked about all off season and coming in like we would win just by showing up. The negatives heavily outweighed the positives but there were still some positives that I hope they build on. Our best and most experienced guys were the ones making all of the huge mistakes. That has to stop yesterday or we're in real trouble. And I really don't know why we can't get our offensive line up to par. They were absolutely terrible.

I hope I don't seriously regret buying Bristol tickets for next week's game..

Also, was the pick'em game last year against the spread? I don't remember it being that way last year but maybe it was. I think I abandoned this one at some point anyway. Might have to go back and change a couple of games for later

I'll do my best. So big day today for the Cats. I think it's going to be a good game. Hopefully you guys can pull away though. Would be a nice first step toward a bowl I think
