Probably should give Barker a chance. At least it might shake the team up a little. UK has far more problems than QB though and it won't take one position change to make that much of a difference.
    Kentucky fan since 1971.

I am. But remember, I was the same way about Bonner, Woodson, etc.

Bonner and Woodson were way more effective than Towles has been.

Towles is basically the equivalent of really early Andre Woodson, or maybe somebody like Mike Hartline.

If his play warranted him staying out there then I could see your point. But he was awful last week.

Well, then at least we and the staff will know what they have. That's something that's up in the air right now. I hope they make the change and start Barker, it just make Towles a more determined QB.

I can't remember Hartline's junior year, but I though he was a very effective QB his senior season and would have led the team to a bowl victory had he been allowed to play. Towles does not measure up to Hartline's senior year. I don't remember how many seasons he started at QB and if his senior year was year two for him starting.

What I do know is that this is Towles second season as a starter and he doesn't appear to be getting better. How long should the staff wait around until the magic switch between the ears goes off and he finally is the player that the staff must feel he will turn into? Should they wait until they miss out out on winning six games? A lot is riding on these last three games.

IIRC, Mike was a starter his Jr. season until he suffered some type of injury (broken leg perhaps?) in, I believe, the So. Car. game.

If Barker starts, maybe Towles can come in late, fresh, rested, and eager to play, and hammer the ball as a running QB for a change of pace with a fresh set of legs, kind of like Jojo Kemp vs. South Carolina last year. Might as well make the best of the situation.

From the coaches announcements this week, I believe it will more of the same and no Barker. If he gets to play at all, I think it will be at the end of the 4th quarter. I do think Barker deserves to start and that Towles needs to sit and maybe it will fire him up a bit. But, I don't think it will happen.

Evidently, the coaching staff has a plan, although they aren't saying what that plan is. Also, based on Towles' comments, he definitely expects to see action, although it's unclear if it's as a starter or a backup.

Perhaps I read it wrong, but I get the feeling that Towels is it. Still. If Boom is returning, that likely solidifies it. I trust the coaches to make decisions....because that's their paycheck. I have e to admit though I am kind of at a smh stage.
If there's a magic switch to be thrown somewhere to salvage this team, never mind this game, someone really needs to turn it on.

Vandy probably isn't a team you want to start a totally inexperienced QB like Barker. He should see some playing time in this game but maybe not just to start the game. Charlotte would be the team to give him a start against.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid if they play Towles the entire game and we lose, things will get very ugly with a segment of the fan base.

Every action has a reaction, either positive, or negative. Sometimes I can't believe what I post following a game! Towles is the QB of this team, I think the way he is playing, warrants a look at Barker, and I think unless Towles is on fire, receivers catching, and line doing a very good job, then we see Barker this weekend. For Towles to be on fire, the other 2 have to happen, o I think it is a sure thing Barker will get significant time. Things need to happen quick, and quite frankly Towles has looked very indecisive in the last 3 or 4 games. At Ga. he looked scared to do anything with the ball, last season he would run the ball when this was happening, and most of the time was very good at it! I think Dawson has a real issue with calling a game that makes us efficient on offense, compared to what he wants to do. He just needs to run plays that give us the best chance to move the ball, Dawson, and all our players just need to calm down and be patient, every play cannot get 25 yrds. If we dink and dunk, control the football and
