Stone Saunders, Brennan Ward, Beau Allen

Last week, with a big lead over Florida, Beau Allen went in for Cutter Boley at QB. This week, with a big lead, Brennan Ward went in at QB. What should be read into that with regard to Stone Saunders? (I’m assuming that Calzada is still injured and won’t play again at Kentucky barring an unusual series of events.)

I'll be honest, I thought it was Saunders in there until I saw the name on the jersey. Had no idea who Ward was. Had some good plays for a true Frosh.

Ward looked poised, threw a pretty
good ball, and even looked mobile.

He would have produced a TD without a drop or two.

I didn't know we had a QB named Brennan Ward until he walked onto that field. lol

I have no idea why he put Ward in instead of Saunders. I'd say he played Allen because it's Allen's last go around and he wanted to reward him for his dedication and loyalty. At any rate, unless he's injured, there won't be another opportunity to play anyone except Boley.

Agreed. He threw some nice passes, showed some poise moving around in the pocket and threw 2 beautiful balls for TDs that first DJ Miller then Gilmore dropped when the ball hit them right in the hands. I actually was pretty impressed. I looked up his HS accomplishments and he was definitely a player in HS. With Boley having multiple years still, Ponatoski (?) coming in, Saunders - I would expect Ward and/or Saunders to transfer. Certainly a very, very small sample size, but Ward looks like he could play quite a bit for another team and do pretty well with the right system and some help.

By the way, Old School it's good to see you posting. Come by more often if you can.

Great to see Old School and Hack.

DenCat and I were both surprised to see Ward ahead of Saunders. I would hate to see him leave, but my gut says he won't be back. I was very excited when we signed him. Maybe we have some of that Calzada money ? to throw his way.

I agree, and I apologize for not giving a shoutout to The-Hack as well. They both need to come around more often, if possible.

I feel like Allen will have a role on the staff in some capacity as a GA next year if Stoops is still here, and/or if Sumrall is hired. I think that was his goal and reason for coming back here in the first place. Could be wrong, but yeah, would have liked to have seen him in there. Not sure about Saunders either. I think Boley should have been pulled after the third quarter and maybe given Saunders and Ward a couple of series each. I had higher hopes for Saunders going into the season, but Boley erased those for me. I don't see Saunders sticking around.

Think that Calzada money is going to have to go towards keeping Boley happy here.

On the KSR post game show, they mentioned they were told the goal was to get both Ward and Saunders a series. UK got the ball back with 9:00 minutes to go, but an 11 play drive by UK and 7 play drive by TTU ruined that plan.

Before the season started they had Ward ahead of Saunders in the pecking order and I have yet to hear a reason why. Kind of Baffling considering for how long we had heard about Saunders and him being fairly well hyped, while I dont think many of us ever heard of Ward.

Need to try and keep the Ward kid. I like what I see and in the highly physical SEC no guarantee you won't need him next season. I don't see us keeping both Ward and Saunders however..
