Wondering if some of that borrowed money included the buyout.

Some have speculated that it did. Interestingly the loan amount was increased late in the cycle to request an additional 30M.

And in the process, Stoops gives UK the middle finger at that idea and says no, does that mean that he would be resigning and we wouldn't owe him the buyout? I know it's very highly unlikely, but just a thought I had.
Yes, a very interesting question. Although I've read the contract, I'm not an attorney. For this question you definitely would need an attorney. My non-professional opinion, he would be in breach of the contract and thus could be fired for cause, IE no buyout.

Rather than forfeit all that money, I'd say he'd stay around for the remainder of the season.

Any rumblings on who Penn St may go after next? I'd imagine that would be an attractive position to many coaches.

I think it's Matt Rhule's to lose. Played at Penn State. Started his coaching career at Penn State and reported directly to the current Penn State AD when he was the head coach at Temple. It's a "meh" hire, but I think he might be the guy.

$49M over the life of that contract VS 20 days/immediate

                    Barnhart is an idiot.
