I like Jerry Kill a lot. Sucks that his health issues made him leave the sidelines.👍 1Comment

UK can be successful, IU proves that, but if you're talking in regards to recruiting, Vandy and IU aren't all of a sudden pulling in top 10 classes. In fact their classes have been worse than ours by and large. Their coaches aren't doing it by beating out the big boys for recruits, they're doing it by getting the most out of what they have and putting in a winning system. It will be interesting to see how long either can sustain that success."It don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more" John PrineComment

As for Franklin, I don't know that he would be high on Barnhart's list, but we are the kind of landing spot a guy like him would consider, but there are a lot of high level jobs opening up. There will be competition for him."It don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more" John PrineComment

First, when was Cignetti at Oregon or did I miss a post somewhere that you were referring to somebody else? And wouldn't doubt if Mullen is in the mix if Sumrall is off the table. If Cignetti leaves IU, it won't be for us, that's a lateral move at best. Penn State on the other hand would be a different story.

No way would Cignetti consider UK. Why would he? Honestly, I'm not sure he leaves IU. He's 62 and has built a playoff contender.
Don't want Franklin.
I think the competition for Sumrall will be too stiff for him to come to UK. There are going to be much better jobs open and likely one of the more traditional powers swoops him up. He's obviously the first choice, though.👍 1Comment

Kudos to him.
Any coach who comes to Kentucky gets placed immediately at a disadvantage. That coach has to overcome poor tradition, less funding, a State bereft of D1 talent and a whole slew of other challenges.
If you want to win here, you either need a C5 Galaxy full of money or mega-creativity or, likely, both.
Kentucky is probably THE hardest school to coach football in all of America.
Fans will be great when your winning 7 to ten games a year. Yet, we will turn on a dime if you go back to the 2-3 wins fail. Rightly so, in my opinion.
In one way and one way only, Kentucky is better than most schools. Kentucky football fans are beaten down and have relatively low expectation. We do, however, want respectability. 2-5 wins is not respectable. Not winning an SEC game at home is not respectable. Not being competitive with Vandy, Loserville, Miss State, Missou and barely defeating directional junior colleges is not respectable. Being scored on by a team like EMU who can't win in their own conference is not respectable.
Kentucky ADs have to stop treating football fans like we're stupid. Stoops should not have been given what amounts to a screw you, fans, contract for having two ten win seasons over down SEC foes and three cupcakes.
If Stoops had got those ten win seasons beating a championship contender Florida or a good LSU team and a couple of other up mid tier teams, I could see giving him the keys to the kingdom. Stoops got those ten win seasons on the back of down programs. Once they came back up to form or, in the case of Florida, up to middling status, Stoops failed miserably. You'll never convince me otherwise."I am the punishment of God. If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you."

Another poster made a comment about "put Cignetti in the SEC" and see how he does and he'll get a chance to prove whether he can win this week at Oregon. IU went in to Oregon this week and beat them.

This is why I would hire upcoming young head coaches or OC’s or DC’s. If they want to stay move their pay up some or move on. The goal should be 7-5, 8-4 and once in awhile a 9 or 10 win. I don’t even know if this is possible with NIL. Bringing in a $10m coach would be ignorant decision in my opinion.👍 2Comment
