If you're looking for guy with HC experience, Sumrall is the guy, and you better do it now before someone else does. Based on history, Barnhart will most likely miss his shot with him.

That takes you to coordinators, for me there are 4 of those that jump out. Will Stein(Oregon OC), Brian Hartline(OSU OC), Glenn Schumann, or Bryant Haines(IU DC). I would be happy with any of them.

No more coordinators for me. I want a proven coach this time around .

Spoken like most of us beaten down UK football fans . Hopefully we can find us a HC that can change this mentality. If vandy and Indiana can than it's highly possible we can too . remove barnhart first would be a positive step to meet this end .

What proven coach would come here?

How about Vandy's OC? He's doing pretty well. Won a Division 2 title and would have knocked off Bama again if Pavia hadn't coughed the ball up a couple crucial times.
          Hartline might consider it.

            Hartline is an excellent idea.

No one who is a current HC.

Let them come in. Rip it up. If they're successful, they'll move on to a bigger name school.

              Then do it again.

Stop with the retreads. They don't work.
Do you consider Indianas coach a retread? He was a head coach elsewhere.

The Indiana coach has a big mouth, but he’s doing well.

The Vandy offense fascinates me, basically a modernized triple option with significant passing elements that can freeze defenses while they figure out where the ball is going.

Jerry Kill, who consults with the Vandy HC and came with Pavia from NM State, had the Golden Gophers (my other favorite college team) rolling for a while when he was there. A little bit of an odd duck, but he knows ball.

Me too. Obviously, they have the personnel to run what they run, but they're fun to watch and they move the ball on just about everybody they play.

Put him in the SEC and then come talk to me.

When he defeats a ranked Ohio State or Penn State, I'll believe.

He gets Oregon next. Maybe he'll show something.

His team defeated a Five Loss Michigan team last year. This year, he's defeated an over-hyped, overrated Illinois. As of this past weekend, he has benefited from playing scrubs.

He might be the real deal. Might not.

So what is your criteria for a proven coach? You aren't taking a good established coach from any SEC school and most likely not from any Big10 school. So that means you go the ACC: Brent Key is about the only attractive coach there and he's at his alma mater. UK isn't touching Lashlee, SMU is better situation. Now we go to the Big12, who there is proven? Dillingham is at his Alma Mater with 1 good year and there isn't another coach that has sustained anything other than Utah's coach. So lets step it down another level in competition to the AAC where presumably you're wanting Sumrall(I would be fine with him) who has not proven anything at a power conference level, Alex Golesh who is the flavor of the season and never sustained anything, and Ryan Silverfield.

Coordinators become great HC all the time, just have to have the right person hiring them so they know how to identify talent.

He would do well anywhere if he can recruit. He has shown he can coach and if he keeps brining in talent he will do well. This IU team would do well in the SEC. I wish he was our coach. So I probably won’t be getting back to you after this post.

He did get his chance to prove at Oregon. And did. You're right. This IU team competes in any league.

Dan Mullen is quietly 6-0 at UNLV. He'd be a major upgrade to what we have now.

Please no. Peavy has been terrible at DePaul and is not liked at all on that campus. His one hire, Tony Stubblefield, in men's basketball was atrocious and their once proud women's program has been terrible too since his arrival. They went to 18 straight NCAA tournaments, Peavy arrived and they have missed the tournament 4 out of 5 years, and then he hires the assistant coach form that downfall. Add in that he has zero experience running a football program and he's a huge no to me.
