    Next coach decision…..

I believe at some point in the future Stoops is finished at UK. Season end or 2026 end, it’s coming.

    A. Does Barney go all out and hire another $9 billion dollar contract that’s 5 years?

    B. Hire a lower team, not P4 and for say $3 million with a 3 year deal?

    C. Hire an OC from a successful team, not certain what the going $ is for this.

    D. Hire a home grow HC with a decent offer?

    E. Go NAIA or D2, like Hal Mumme?

I’m interested in what your opinion is.

There really weren't many beating down the door when Stoops was hired. If Sumrall is available I think he would take it. If not, we are more than likely looking at a coordinator from somewhere and quite likely someone we've not heard of.

I agree with Bill that Sumrall will be Barnhart's first choice. If he turns it down, which I don't think he will, I have no idea.

I live a couple of blocks from Sumrall in Old Metairie, a idilic little community just outside New Orleans and 15 minute drive to Tulane. He has a chance every year to getting into the college playoffs at Tulane. He is financially comfortable and according to media reports here, he and his family love it here and he isn’t interested in leaving the Greenies.

i just hope he follows Bear Bryant’s rule…”when Momma calls.” I know Coach Brooks will encourage him. Li just hope Joe Craft and others
make every commitment on and off the football field that he would want so he’ll come back to 40502 and few minute walk or drive to Commonwealth Stadium and the practice facilities.

I'll be optimistic and expect that Barney won't be the one leading the parade.
Going forward, Christian Laettner volunteers to catch any dildos flung on a basketball court - or anywhere else.

Not that he would here either, but he has 0 chance at winning in the playoffs at Tulane. With SEC coaches already talking about him being in the SEC, he will take a bigger job, its just a matter of time. I hope its at UK, but I could very easily see it being at Arky or Ole Miss if Lane goes to Florida

I don’t want Barney doing the hiring or contract negotiations.

Amen to this.... Honestly though he's been here since 2002 isn't he getting close to retiring soon?

You know I hate Mitch and this is a little of the subject but darn he's got an impressive list of AD's that's worked under him in some capacity that are now AD's elsewhere. These are at some pretty significant schools too. Would any of them be willing to replace him if he does retire?

Watch Jason Eck at New Mexico Lobos.

Give him a try. See what happens.

                    I'd bet Dwayne Peevy would.

Dwayne Peevy is unqualified for and apparently uninterested in being an SEC AD. He left UK to be AD at DePaul, which has no football program. Whatever you think of Barnhart no way Peevy should replace him.

My main takeaway is I’m not sure I want Mitch in charge of hiring the next FB coach.

James Franklin will probably be available… could do worse. His Vandy teams were certainly impressive, at least as good as Clark Lea has them now.

Franklin might be ok, but I'd rather have someone who hasn't been fired from their last job.
