Avoiding an expected significant loss if Stoops is retained vs actual additional revenue - that makes sense. And, for sure, if Stoops & co. are still here next season, I would expect a very large loss in ticket sales, NIL contributions, box rentals, etc.

I was at the Ole Miss game. They traveled well but in no way would I say Kroger Field was "full" of their fans. I do anticipate that the Texas and orange stain games will will be disgustingly close to 50% visitor-filled. At least.

I know the buyout is huge, but can UK really keep him around for more 3- and 4-win seasons until the buyout is 'reasonable'? I mean, c'mon. This team will be lucky to win 4 and next year is shaping up to be 3 wins. While the SEC generates a ton of revenue, putting only 40k fans in the seats will put a big crimp in the athletic budget.

I think Stoops would be honorable and let the university pay him out over time to lessen the blow but I just don't see how we can keep him unless we just really don't care about being successful in football any longer. If he stays, it won't be long until the cupboard is as bare of talent as it was when he first came on board.

Huge or not. How does the program that generates most of the revenue for all the other sports minus Men's Basketball (And yes Football revenue dwarfs Basketball revenue.) go 2-3 or however many more years losing copius amounts of revenue each year that we keep Stoops around. How does that math help the situation. Especially when you're planning all of these facilities upgrades intended to fleece the fans even more. Nobody will buy into those amenities to watch football played at this level or worse.

Point is, barring something miraculous, Stoops has lost the fan base. They can't afford to NOT fire him. Negotiate the buyout, bite the bullet and move on. Get a coach who will come here for half of what Stoops is making now and make up the difference with less Salary and increased ticket sales and renewed energy in the program.

Yeah, Texas will fill the place up for sure. They've never been to Lexington, so they will travel well to see what Bourbon Country is all about. UT fans will pack it too. Both games will likely be all opposing fans by the 4th quarter.

Yeah, They were there, but nowhere near the capacity we will see from UT or Texas. I don't even think their fan section was completely full. When they disrupted MOKH in the pre-game, there were a couple of OM douchebags a couple of rows in front of us cheering it on, they got railed on pretty hard by everyone around them and they ended up leaving the section soon after. That was serious disrespect.
