So...is Stoops done?

I know the buyout is huge, but can UK really keep him around for more 3- and 4-win seasons until the buyout is 'reasonable'? I mean, c'mon. This team will be lucky to win 4 and next year is shaping up to be 3 wins. While the SEC generates a ton of revenue, putting only 40k fans in the seats will put a big crimp in the athletic budget.

I think Stoops would be honorable and let the university pay him out over time to lessen the blow but I just don't see how we can keep him unless we just really don't care about being successful in football any longer. If he stays, it won't be long until the cupboard is as bare of talent as it was when he first came on board.

Not this week, season has to play out, Could still win 5 games.Tomato can, UFLA, and UL. We are better in some areas than last year. Much better running game. D about the same. UL is overrated and Fla might be in more turmoil than us. If he doesn't win 5 he will be replaced at end of season, contract or not.

"We can't afford to fire Stoops. It is now up to Mark to decide whether he is a cancer to the program or wishes to stay and make a difference. It is up to Mark Stoops to decide to step away or do what it takes to turn the program around. Either Stoops thinks he can make that difference or he is here to drain Kentucky of money and suck the life out of the program."

Mitch screwed up offering this huge buy out. Stoops didn't earn it. He has always been a mid level coach. He got lucky. The SEC East excepting UGa was down and Stoops profited from it. Stoops pulled off no major coup. The SEC East was down for a few years and Stoops profited from it. Kentucky fans just aren't that football savvy. Most Kentucky football fans are a bit naive.

My apologies if that hurts feelings. Regardless, it's true.

If you think Kentucky rose up to the level to beat Florida and Tennessee as opposed to Florida and Tennessee went through a down period, you just aren't a savvy SEC football person.

I love the optimism but I see no chance this team wins 3 more games. It would be a big-to-monumental upset if we won an SEC game. UL is overrated and has problems. They can also score TDs against P4 opponents. Last night proved to me that this team, while quite possibly better than last year's goof squad, is still not well coached, still does not have a QB and is still lacking in talent across the board.
