The coaches between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban (1983 - 2007) had a record of 171-105, or a .619 winning percentage. Bryant had a .818 winning percentage and Saban had a .877 winning percentage. They will undoubtably take a step back....the question is how far of a step back will it be.Comment

I'm not certain why they keep giving these coaches these humongous buy out clauses.
A buy out clause tells me that the coach isn't that confident in their ability to win and that the college administration is a joke.“I love people as individuals, but I hate people in groups.”

School A gives a large buy-out because the know school B will offer almost as much. And just why shouldn't a coach insist on a humongous since they know they can get one?Comment

That didn't answer my question. lol
That just told me that School A and School B are run by idiots who are going to pay some people a lot of money for nothing.“I love people as individuals, but I hate people in groups.”

I didn't say that the coaches shouldn't do anything.
I said that the schools were stupid for doing it.
Those are two completely different statements.“I love people as individuals, but I hate people in groups.”

His seat is certainly hot, but I think the SEC as a whole has taken a little bit of a step back in terms of where it was a 2-3 years ago. The Big 10 is probably a touch stronger this year. I will also say that NIL and the portal is probably contributing to that somewhat in that it's helped schools like Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Ole Miss, etc. gain some strength back to spread out some of the power. Also, look at schools like Indiana as well, Vandy even to a degree. The Bama's and UGA's of the world aren't quite as deep as they used to be when they could stash five star guys on the bench for 2-3 seasons waiting their turn. Those guys want to play and are going to places where they can."It don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more" John Prine👍 2Comment

I lost interest in Finebaum for this reason. At some point the ranting is just performative, which the show is only too happy to exploit.Last edited by Helix; 09-05-2025, 12:50 PM.👍 1Comment

I’ll go a step further and say I’m not convinced that a lot of the callers to that show are even real people and think a lot of the regulars are playing a character for TV. I don’t enjoy watching/listening either.
