Man, that would be an all-timer. Gran was prominent on the sideline today.

Agreed. Hamden appears clueless but Stoops clearly hires an OC and then tells him what his new approach is. Call it the way I want it or you’re out. Couple of crap years and you’re out anyway.

Meanwhile the approach defensively is to get a tiny lead then try to sit on it. Even against a MAC team the cushion we give the receivers guarantees they move down the field in chunks once we back off. As long as we have a shot in our last possession Stoops is thrilled. Hey, it can work against 2 or 3 teams on our schedule this year. Yay.

Every day. Every year. He apparently is the OC most in line with Stoops’ philosophy. That being the case—I agree, why pay Hamden or any other guy coordinator money?

I agree with a lot of what you guys are saying. Bush Hamdan's play calling just doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. And I'm still not sure just what exactly he's trying to accomplish. It is like the offense doesn't have any identity. And if I see him run one more jet sweep I just might have to scream.

Mark stoops teams are like watching grass grow and paint drying. Unbelievable !people pay to watch this crap year after year . All the hype, and once again stoops came out lethargic, and flat, paying this guy 36 millon . 10 to 2 Toledo for 3 quarters .

I doubt that Hamden makes it through the season. If the SEC losses begin piling up, and especially if some are by ridiculous scores, Stoops will send him packing and make Gran the interim OC which might be a good thing.

I distinctly remember Hamdan stating they ran the QB too much last year. Why do it again? You have a bunch of backs...let em run.

Really only positive was finally, finally using the tight end.
perhaps a parting shot at VM.

Stoops may put handcuffs on the OC, but anyone with even a little sense can see Hamdan is clueless as a play caller. Have we ever had a series under him when you thought, 'Man, that was a great set of plays. Really had a great rhythm and kept the defense on their heels.'? Nope. Just random plays called with no discernible relation to the game situation. He's really bad at his job, imo.

I'd sure take him over what Hamdan has shown me. His playcalling is just baffling.

You think stoops bringing In another oc will remedy the situation? how many more ocs need to be brought in before you realize the oc is not the head of the dragon .

My thoughts exactly. Given Stoops record with previous OC plus the possibility of being out of a job come December.

Watching the LSU / Clemson game last night, the announcers made a point of showing how the bayou Tigers used misdirection to give Clemson a look they were expecting while adding a wrinkle to take full advantage of those expectations. It reminded me of the angularity and the come-at-you-from-different-directions of the Vandy offense with Pavia. And at one point, LSU ran the same wide receiver screen three times in a row because, as the announcers pointed out, Clemson just wasn't reacting well to the play. It netted a first down in a contest where every yard was hard to come by. Even though LSU scored only 17 points -- that Clemson D is RUGGED -- you could tell that Kelly's OC was really into the game, calling it as it was unfolding on the field. I was thoroughly impressed.

It's strange how the past oc's have done well at previous coaching stops, but come here and look clueless most of the time. If stoops is lucky enough to keep his job, I fully expect hamden will be let go in a year or 2. History just keep repeating itself under stoops.
