Contrary to popular belief, Couch was NOT one of the biggest busts in NFL history.

That line in Cleveland was HORRIBLE and I mean HORRIBLE. He never stood a chance going there.

The Couch to Kevin Johnson combination was solid. Most seem to forget that he lead the Browns to the playoffs in 2002 I believe it was. But yes, he was beat up due to O Line issues. After his broken leg and subsequent injuries he was never the same. The Browns didn't make the playoffs for like 15+ years after Couch. Start up franchises are behind the 8 ball for eons in the NFL.

That photo shows one of the best passers in college football history (he’s in the College Football Hall of Fame) running the option in a 65-0 loss at #1 and eventual national champion Florida in 1996 on CBS. He completed 6 passes for a total of 18 yards in that game. With a Hall of Fame passer at quarterback, offensive coordinator Eliot Uzelac ran the ball 35 times, for a total of 24 yards (on national TV).

The futility of the Curry and Uzelac years was absurd.

It wasn’t just on offense, either. Florida took a 41-0 lead into halftime and then promptly ran back two Kentucky punts for 66 and 79 yard TDs. Earlier that year in an embarrassing 24-3 loss to Cincinnati, Kentucky had a punt blocked for a TD and another blocked punt lead to a TD.

Total yardage in those first games of 1996:

                          185 vs. Louisville
                          173 vs. Cincinnati
                          226 vs. Indiana
                          67 vs. Florida
                          124 vs. Alabama
                          156 vs. South Carolina

All with a Hall of Fame quarterback (forced to run the option).
