28 Halfback Bobby "Moose" Cravens
Owensboro, KY (Owensboro HS)
A four-sport letterman at Owensboro High School, Moose was the MVP of the Red Devils Kentucky State Football Championship team, earned All-State and was an All-American in 1954, playing in the All-Star game in Memphis, where he earned the Most Outstanding Player Award, making him the best high school player in the country.
Moose was a member of Jack Hicks’ first American Legion Championship baseball team in 1953. Yet he thrived on the football field, signing with the University of Kentucky, racking up All-SEC honors twice, was the leading rusher for the Wildcats for three straight years, played in the Blue-Gray All-Star Game in 1958, the All-American game in Tucson, Arizona in 1959, and left UK as the second leading career rusher in UK history.
Moose went on to play for the Ottawa Roughriders in the Canadian Football League.

27 Donnell Gordon, RB (1993-94)
Peewee Valley, KY (South Oldham HS)
He won the Paul Hornung Award as the top player in Kentucky in 1992 after rushing for more than 6,300 yards and 61 touchdowns in his career at South Oldham. Gatorade also honored him as the best in the Bluegrass State that year.
(Paducah Tilghman quarterback Billy Jack Haskins won Mr. Football.)
Gordon went on to play college football at Kentucky and Louisville. He spent his first two years at Kentucky under Bill Curry. An injury during his freshman year held him out of action and Moe Williams overtook him as the lead runningback. His best friend and teammate, Trent DiGuiro, was murdered during his sophomore year. He moved to Louisville as a junior to care for his great grandmother who raised him. He continued to have injury issues and went into police work with the Lexington Police Department following his graduation with a degree in criminal justice.

Choo Choo Lee had a big game in the Cats 1981 win over Tennessee in the snow in Lexington. Fran Curci's last game. One of my favorite memories. Was worth freezing all afternoon to see it in person.👍 2Comment
