    Wide Recievers

On another site, someone took a shot at a way too early depth chart for the offense. In the article, they listed 12 WRs and failed to mention at least two 4-stars on the roster. That means we have AT LEAST 14 WRs.

Someone else suggested that those guys should be evaluated without names or numbers on their jerseys. I would heartily endorse that approach. Surely, out of those numbers, we can find 4 or 5 who can play.

Ali, Dailey, and Oliver probably start. I look for Drennen, Cummings, Branham, and Epps to get good opportunities. I won't be surprised in the least in Lewis comes in and surprises enough to crack the rotation.

If I were a betting man, I would say Ali and Dailey. Beyond that, I have no idea. I would LOVE to be surprised by 3 or 4 guys about whom I know almost nothing. IMO, we desperately need some fresh faces to emerge.

Don't count Crowdus out. I expect him to make some noise this upcoming season.

I hope so. Isn't he a downfield threat?

Great. Looking forward to some downfield passes.

Is this the one that has been rumored for several weeks now? The one about a prodigal son coming home?

                    Very well could be.

Wan'Dale Robinson has officially entered the transfer portal. Lots of folks think he may be coming home.

I am surprisingly ambivalent about this one, even to myself. On the one hand, Robinson is a great talent and would provide an immediate and dramatic upgrade to our WR position. And, I hold no ill will towards him for leaving us at the altar the first time around. (All of my anger there is directed at Frost, but that is another story and I digress.)

My hesitancy at picking up a talent like Robinson is the same as my being only luke-warm about Josh Ali’s decision to return. Yes, these would be our two best receivers, for sure. And that is FANTASTIC news. And I should be excited. But, I am just really anxious to see what the other dozen WRs can do, and I am concerned that they may all get placed on the back burner.

But, I’ll get over that. If he wants to come, I’d be happy to have him. What an immediate boost that would be for our offense!

Im not as much excited at this possibility as a lotta folks on differnt sites. Not real sure he might just be looking for a temporary landing zone. We have unknown quantities at QB and coordinator coming in, and Im wondering if this kid might not be looking at Kiffen or Leach to have just an unreal amount of passes thrown his way. For a year maybe???

Well, coaches careers are made on stuff like this. So if the guy with skin in the game wants him, so be it.

Would love to see Cummings emerge. He was a STUD at Male.

I had forgotten about him. I met him at Male and he is a very polite and fine young man and can catch the ball. He has very good speed, but not exceptional.
