We will not lose this over money. You had to know that Michigan State would counter our counter. However, as the bidding gets higher and higher, money becomes less and less of a motivating factor. When the money gets this high, it Hass to come down to relationships, integrity, and quality of life. How can you put a price on the relationships he has built with the players on this team? How can you Put a price on the integrity he has developed with the BBN? There is absolutely no comparison between Lexington and East Lansing when it comes to quality of life. If we lose this, it will not be because Mitch failed to write the check. It was because Vince wanted to go.Comment

Welcome to Big time Football! Michigan State countered our matching offer pushing the stakes higher, From what I've read it is a nice increase and will likely make him the highest paid recruiting coordinator in the country. Is he worth it? Probably. He can and has turned the recruiting landscape around when he focuses on an area. We were finally able to make some inroads in Louisville after how many years of not being able to recruit top talent there. The more successful we are the more we can expect others to come after our coaches. Michigan State has run the statistics on the importance of bringing in talented players. Michigan State has obviously made a choice to dump a lot of money into their football program to turn it around. Their first offer to their choice of a head coach was turned down. They came back to him and obviously made a second offer that included enough money in the budget to get the staff and fund the budget to turn the program around. I hope we're able to keep Vince. He's as important to our program as he is to anyone else's program.Comment

There's speculation, on seaofblue, that they will probably try to poach Clinkscale as well due to his ability to recruit the Detroit area. Tucker has been quoted as saying if MSU is going to be successful they are going to have to own Detroit recruiting..Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

I don't remember the exact figure but it seems like Vince was making something like 400K (maybe it was 600K) before MSU came in with a million-dollar offer. KSR had this thing about, "How could UK let it come to this by not keeping him the highest-paid non-coordinator in the SEC?" They contrasted it with how we handle Kenny Payne.
If MSU is really making a "much bigger" counteroffer in excess of a million dollars, it begs the question, can "UK be trusted in the future to pay me what I'm worth without being forced into a bidding war?".
The way I think about this sort of thing, the lost personal income over the last few years is something I would think about and the larger the gap between my current pay and the final offer, the more you can put a price on the intangibles that have been mentioned.
Maybe he doesn't think that way (I hope he doesn't) and UK and Lexington being great in all the ways they are makes the money meaningless. I hope so, I love Lexington and it would take a BIG raise for me to relocate, I pray Vince feels the same.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... Vince was making $625k. UK has offered $1 million. The difference between $1 million and $1.2 million is not that significant, when you consider everything else.
The real problem is the ripple effect as Vince’s salary begins to bump into that of the coordinators.Last edited by SBCatMan; 02-14-2020, 12:46 PM.👍 1Comment

Still the difference between 1 and 1.2 wasn't the point of my post.
As for other coordinators, UK should be paying in the top three SEC range for EVERY football position Coach. I could come up with a quick list of minor men's sports to dispose of to get us there if need be...Last edited by Spiritof96; 02-14-2020, 01:12 PM.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... I wonder if the fact that he hasn't been getting paid more all along makes him question his leadership here. "If you guys are willing to pay me x, why have you been paying me y for so long?"Comment
