It's a great day when you can see UK take that next step in the recruiting progression and become a middle of the pack SEC school with recruiting rankings.

This is the best class I can remember and hopefully have a couple more 4* coming.

I never expected in my lifetime that we would have a higher recruit average than Michigan.

Hopefully this translates to on the field where on an annual basis we see 8-10 wins before taking another leap.

Time to complete the process, lock up the other leans and round out the coaching staff.

Man, I'm just so freakin' stoked about the direction of the football program and what Mark Stoops has been able to do at Kentucky. I never thought I'd see the day that UK is impacting the Big 10 as a whole and winning recruits over some really good programs. Or that it's late December and two days before the basketball team plays a #1 team in the country and I'm more excited about football.

That makes five 4* kids from five different states in 3 days.

4* WR/RB Michael Drennan may well join the class as (hopefully) the next Lynn Bowden type from Ohio, pushing it even higher in the rankings. RB Torrance Davis may be part of it also. DB Devito Tisdale isn't committing until one of the all star games; Kentucky may add him also. He was very highly ranked months ago but has fallen back. Scouts really liked what they saw earlier, though.

There are some 4* kids floating around who committed to some of the SEC West powers but haven't signed. It could be grades, it could be that there weren't enough seats left, who knows. They'll land someplace. Same with a 6'5" 4* WR who committed to Florida State. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that there's another surprise waiting in there, but I don't think that's terribly likely.

Regardless, it is a remarkably solid recruiting class. made up of the type of players - at all positions - who can compete at any level.

Matt Jones observed that on rivals, our average star rating is 12th in the country. (tied with UT) Pretty darn impressive.

With some luck (and by luck I mean health) we could really push to sustain 7-9 wins a season with our fair share of bowl wins. Frankly it's amazing right now.

To me it's more of an expectation of 7-9 wins than a push. IMO, a push is now 10 wins.

What a recruiting haul. Having the stud war daddies in the trenches has ALWAYS been the key to success in the SEC. No matter what kind of skill people you have the trenches are where the titles are competed for. Perfect example is Bama this year, all kinds of skill people but below par on the lines. The future is bright for UK, we keep up this kind of recruiting for a couple of more years and we could legitimately compete for an SEC title.

Re: Drennan, Davis and Tisdale. While I would love to have any or all of these long-time Kentucky leans and/or commits, we have become so ridiculously stacked, talented and deep at their positions that it may become difficult to get them to sign on the dotted line. That is not to diminish their skills in any way, but those rooms are becoming very crowded with young, talented athletes.

Call me greedy but I REALLY hope we get them. Drennen is a VERY highly rated back that is truly all-purpose-he can run, block, & catch passes out of the backfield or the slot. He plays with a bunch of great young players at a good high school program. Tisdale is also a highly rated in-state player & a teammate of Jordan Dingle, one of the top TEs in the country which is/will be a position of need. Davis is also rated higher than any we’ve had in a while. (Higher than Smoke, C-Rod, or Benny but LOWER than signee Jutahn McClain). He may be waiting to see what Drennen does and if Drennen picks UK he would be the 3rd rated back & could choose one of his other offers like Tennessee, Mich. St, Penn St, or others.

Chatter is that Tisdale is still going to be a Cat. He just wanted to announce at the all-star game. It sounds (http://bit.ly/2MieOZX) as if Davis is still on board as well.

Oh, don’t misunderstand me — I WANT these guys — but we are really stock pilling talent in both the offensive and defensive backfields. At RB we have Rose, Smoke, Rodriguez, Tisdale and McClain. Our secondary was young this year, and we redshirted our entire freshman class of DBs that included AT LEAST two 4-star studs. Then, we add the LSU transfer and sign bunch of more 4-star DBs in this class. It is a great problem to have.

There is a Miami team playing in the King of the Bluegrass Basketball tournament. They're not much at BB but they are loaded with FB talent. They have a kid that the HC at LSU calls every day. He is 6'3" at least 300 Lbs and has no baby fat. He has DT written all over him. Also a 6'5" 200 Lb kid who has committed to Florida State as a DB. Looks more like a strong safety to me. These kids are very athletic.

I saw where as far as both sides of the line go, the only programs to sign better classes were Bama and Clemson. Exciting times ahead people! And to think some "fans" fabricated a rumor a few years ago to get rid of Stoops! What morons!

I miss the KOB bigtime! My work schedule prevents me from going anymore. I have seen a TON of HS studs play there over the years. Baltimore Dunbar was by far the best HS team I ever saw.
