Great News: Joey Gatewood visited UK again this weekend to witness the Louisville demolition. Things appear to be looking good!

I read elsewhere that we've picked up three crystal ball picks for him, he has yet to visit anywhere else, and Florida, who was thought to be the pick at one point, and him have mutually parted ways. This kid is GOOD. He had offers from virtually everyone coming out of high school, including Alabama, Clemson, LSU, OSU, Georgia, etc. He would likely have to sit out next season and he would have two to play two, I believe.

Two for two, yes. We are set up good for the future. Thi k about it. Eddie Gran has really yet to run the offense he was known for at UC and Auburn. Decommits and injuries has had him change it up seemingly yearly. I used to be a Gran basher of sorts but I came around. This man is a great OC. Gatewood has been compared to Cam Newton. Imagine this shiny toy being molded by this staff. The future is definitely bright.

Surely some on here are more familiar with the rules, but if Gatewood commits to a new school and enrolls immediately after the semester would he be able to attend the additional 15 practices for the bowl game? That would be a great orientation leading into spring practice.

Unless he can get a waiver, he'll have to sit out next season.

I'm not aware of any restriction on who may watch practice. Seriously doubt he would be allowed to participate until enrolled.

Also, it's my understanding that, unless he requests and is granted a waiver by the NCAA, he will be required to sit out next season.

I think it is a nigh certainty that he must sit out next year.

Supposedly he's going to apply for one. But, any extra time he has with the team will only be beneficial no matter when he plays.

Exciting times to say the least. I'm pumped to have Terry next year. Assuming he has full mobility back I think he'll have a big year. Then hopefully 2 years of Gatewood. We may see success we haven't known since Curci was cheating. And I don't remember those days.

Gatewood is a big ol' boy. Hope he doesn't mind me calling him Joey Guns. Cause I'm gunna.

I do. I doubt if I'll ever see another season like 1977.

One of Gatewood's WRs at Auburn, Marquis McClain, entered the transfer portal (as did Auburn LB Michael Harris). McClain started the season opener but didn't get much action after that. He's a graduate transfer, eligible to play one year next year.

Michigan LB Jordan Anthony entered the portal, as did Michigan safety J'Marick Woods.

Safety Elijah Gaines decommitted from Penn State. 6'2", from Virginia; no Kentucky involvement (so far).

Oregon State safety Kee Whetzel, from Florida, entered the portal. He's 6'3", the kind of tall, strong DB Stoops likes (and makes into really good players).

Florida State DT Malcolm Lamar entered the portal. Kentucky apparently offered him as a 4 star prospect in 2018.

1,942 FBS players entered the transfer portal in its first year.

Meanwhile, the NCAA's generosity to Ohio State continues, as their LB Justin Hilliard was given a sixth year of eligibility.

Hilliard redshirted his first season in 2015, then played just one game in 2016. He played 11 games in 2017, eight last year and eight this year.

WKU's former leading rusher entered the portal.

Western Kentucky redshirt sophomore Joshua Samuel has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, the running back announced via Twitter on Thursday. Samuel led the Hilltoppers in rushing in 2018 before playing sparingly this season behind Gaej Walker. Samuel had just six carries for 17 yards in four appearances this season. The most game time he saw […]

                                1. Joey Gatewood has now verbally committed to UK. We are close to being a perfect fit for his skill set. From what I have read it's almost 100% that he will have to sit given the SEC's position on transfers among conference members. His commitment, in my opinion, will have a really good impact on our recruiting efforts, and that includes WRs. Terry will be back at the helm next year ... barring the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. He won't participate in Spring practice. Terry has always been, in my judgement, an immense talent. He can throw the ball better than he's given credit for by many. So the Spring will give us an opportunity to develop a couple of backups. More time for Walker to regain his strength and zip on the ball. Hopefully Scalzo will be healthy enough to participate. Amani will have time to develop although participating in spring practice and baseball might be difficult. Sawyer may need surgery. Regardless, we should have a passing game this next year. Given the talent we have coming back and a recruiting class that could push toward a top 10 ranking, I would be really surprised if we lose anyone on our coaching staff. It's an exciting time to be a UK football fan.
