I knew it would be rough if Sawyer want recovered physically what I didn't expect was the ho-humness of the rest of the team. I went back and watched some of the game again and it was never more highlighted than when SC fumbled the ball and 4-5 UK players just watched the ball get recovered by SC. The whole team seemed to quit early on every play, except Sawyer Smith. That kid is trying his hardest but his shoulder and wrist are adversely affecting ever single release then if he does get the ball where it needs to go the receivers are dropping it. This is what I blame on Stoops. You find ways to compensate, you don't just force a kid to or let a kid force himself to keep playing when it is so obvious he is in bar shape. The team needs leaders on the field too. Everyone seems to have quit. The bye week is gonna be rough on us as usual though I hope it gives Smith some time to recover
There’s no way of knowing if Terry is an SEC caliber QB because we don’t know how much he improved over last year. He has looked like a typical streaky QB last year, but looked vastly improved against weaker competition.

I do think it’s fair to ask why there’s so much attrition at the QB position.

This seems to be a string of errors. Not pulling Smith. Not putting in Wood. How demoralizing to ANY kid that plays quarterback is it to let your wr play it????????
and let's remember LB pro future is NOT quarterback.
Then saying you got faith in Wood.....man I'm sorry, but if I were him or Langhi I'd be dialing the transfer portal
This is likely a reason we DONT see Clark or Hoak still here.
I'm getting kind of upset with some of this odd decision making.

And John is saying out straight what a lot of us are hinting around with....theres something really really not right with this crew as of now.

That was a heat of the moment comment I made. What I should've said was that if we see Smith at qb...

He is hurt and we keep trotting him out there. Just a bad look by our staff.

I do. Just about ever since he's been here, coach Stoops and staff have recruited some highly regarded players and redshirted them. Building depth he said, when asked why some of them weren't playing. Where's that depth now?

Probably because every year we sign at least one and sometimes two highly regarded QB's, out of h.s., and then redshirt them. Then after their redshirt year, they spend another season, or two, w/o ever seeing the field. This is something I've never understood, and it seems to be typical of most coaches, is this thing about playing the starting QB the entire game every game even if you're 35 or 40 points ahead or 35 or 40 points behind. It's no wonder the second and third string QB's get discouraged and transfer.

We have had some highly regarded qbs commit and then back out. Not much Stoops can do about that. Injuries have plagued us also. Barker looked like he would've been a decent one then he gets hurt and his career is over. Just rotten luck. Luck had no bearing last night though. He should've put Wood in there.

I will say that last drive was decent enough. We had more energy across the board on that drive than we did the entire game. The players know the deal. Looked to me like it was a big "It's about time!" feeling when Bowden got under center.

This is true about the players backing out of commitments. Usually to bigger schools.

I know it happens....but man, oh man....Sawyer Smith played HARDER than just about anybody.
if Bowden is our new qb instead of Smith, I'm done with this season....i will just start watching the transfer portal and decommits to see where Kentucky players are.

I get what you are saying but Smith is hurt. The Mississippi State game proved it. Look at his completion % the last 2 games. It's BRUTAL. He doesn't have the touch or zip on the ball like he had in the 1st half against Florida. If he isn't healthy coming out of the bye, I want Bowden or Wood "under center". How the coaches didn't see Smith's struggles in practice since Florida is beyond me. They didn't put us in position to win the last 2 games and that is worrisome.

Just like Jerry Glanville had a Get Back Coach, we need a Counting Coach. Twice had NINE guys on the field. INEXCUSABLE.

If you guys saw the look on Woods face when he took off his helmet, it was complete disappointment. Recruits see this kind of stuff, they watch us playing an injured player instead of putting in a healthy one, and we sit and wonder why they go elsewhere.
