I have been watching some of last season's games. I was surprised by the production of some of our younger players. Rose looked good, yes but I am very optimistic about Rodriguez. This young man runs like Benny. He refuses to go to the ground. I also saw some of that in AJ Rose. With a year in the weight room I suspect we will see lots of surprises from these players.

As of right now, I'm thinking seven and possibly eight regular season wins. I believe we will miss many of the def. players more than Snell. If he stays healthy, I believe Rose will be the bell cow of the RB's. I've been impressed with what I've seen of him so far. Last season he logged 86 carries for a total of 479 yards which averages out to around six yards a carry. I believe Smoke and Rodriguez will prove to be more than adequate backups to Rose although being Fr., and playing behind Snell and Rose, they didn't get many opportunities to display their talents last season. Losing good or great players on def. always concerns me more that losing good or great players on off. There's an old adage, in fb, that off. sells tickets and def. wins championships, and I believe this to be very true.

You're right, we will miss those defensive guys, however I think with the rush from this front 7 we can create trouble for opposing offenses. If our defensive line and linebackers make as effective a rush as I expect, enemy quarterbacks may give up sacks, incomplete passes, throw-aways and interceptions while our young defensive backs get their legs under them. Even though we only have the 14th best quarterback in the SEC (wink, wink), I think we will make some REAL noise this year.

I am never very good at predictions because I don't know much about the opposing teams but I do know about the Cats and I look forward to a season almost as good as the last one. 9? 10?

One thing REALLY worries me...Phil Steel has not been kind in his ranking of Kentucky this year and Phil Steel is rarely wrong.
