Simple question, would you risk around 8-10 million dollars to play in a meaningless bowl game. Everyone has a different answer. I know what mine would be, if I tear an ACL during the game, I will not get a dime from the fans, or the university. If I was the kids father I would tell him to look to his future HIS future not ours.

How much would it cost for someone like Allen to procure an insurance policy for one game vs. a potential NFL career's worth of earnings?

If there was going to be any sort of remuneration for athletes by schools, this would be one form I might support.

But that was my point. How much more meaning did the Louisville game have? Or any game for that matter? So when you prove yourself and your stock rises, why play another game?

Coach Stoops has said repeatedly that he expects everyone to play. Snell has indicated he plans to play. And to my knowledge Allen has had said absolutely nothing of not playing. Until/if we hear different we have to assume they do plan to play.

Exactly. How can anyone argue that the Citrus Bowl on January 1 has less meaning than Middle Tennessee on November 17? What makes bowl games so different? And why less meaningful than more so?

An insurance policy to cover injury/loss of $10 million would probably cost him around $100,000 or so. The policies like there are typically about $10,000 per $1 million of coverage. No big deal if he doesn't get hurt and makes all the money he should. He is probably guaranteed a $20+ million contract as a top 10 pick. That policy would be $200,000+

However, he cannot take a loan yet, can't get help from the school to pay for it, so the question would be...does he (or his parents) have that kind of money immediately available?
