Mississippi State vs. Iowa in the Outback. That's a good matchup for the SEC.
Florida vs. Michigan in the Peach...we'll find out who's for real and who isn't in that one.
Missouri goes 8-4 but ends up in the Liberty and draws Oklahoma State as an opponent. Those are tough breaks for Missouri. (Missouri, by the way, is now ranked for the first time since Kentucky beat them and knocked them out of the top 25 a few years ago.)
LSU travels to Arizona and has to play the gratuitous minor league team. I hope the Tigers aren't too dejected about that.
Georgia draws Texas in the Sugar Bowl. The SEC representative gets a lower ranked team in the Sugar Bowl than in the Citrus Bowl. If Georgia isn't too dejected at dropping the SEC Championship Game, they should maul that Texas team.
Texas A&M gets NC State in the Gator Bowl. This is A&M's first bowl game in Florida in a long time. There will be a ton of Aggie fans in Jacksonville for that one.
South Carolina gets Virginia in the Belk Bowl. The Game****************s need to win that one convincingly.
Auburn gets Purdue in the Music City Bowl. Auburn was thoroughly overrated this year (yet still beat the Pac 12 champs). Here's Brohm's chance to prove himself a little.
Vanderbilt gets Baylor in the Texas Bowl in Houston. Their fans will be as badly outnumbered there as they are at their own home games. It would be nice to see lowly Vanderbilt notch a bowl win against a Big XII team in Texas.

Washington State really got shafted. They finished 10-2 and ranked #12/13, but slid all the way to the Alamo against Iowa State on December 28. They finished as the consensus second best team in the Pac 12 but have to watch Stanford go to the Sun Bowl to play an ACC divisional champion (an unimpressive opponent), and Utah land a Big Ten divisional champion (Northwestern) in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, Oregon faces Michigan State, and UCF get to the Fiesta Bowl to face LSU. Washington State vs. LSU would've been a great game to see. The Pac 12 really needs to set up a bowl game against the SEC, maybe someplace like Dallas instead of in Florida.Comment

Agreed. And in the age when players shut it down to think of their futures why just sit out a bowl game? Did his stock rise that much in playing Louisville? Mel Kiper has had him in his top 10 for weeks so why play the second half of the season?
There's lots of debate about whether revenue sport athletes should be paid. But shouldn't the scholarship you accepted require you to be available to play your team's games if you are not injured? Of course I'm a selfish fan who wants my team to be it's best version of itself but I just don't fully get this new era. Didn't see that type of thing even 3 years ago.Comment

If official word gets out that Snell and Allen are bypassing our Bowl Game, there won't be near the Kentucky fans there, or interest in the outcome.John 3:3

In a little over a year from now Tua could win his second Heisman. What would Nick Saban say if Tua decided to sit out the playoffs next year because he's already the guaranteed 1st draft pick?
I think it's arguable that the Citrus Bowl is as important a recruiting game for an up and coming UK team trying to build it's best program in decades as a national title game for Bama who is in that game about every year.
I appreciate Josh Allen's contributions to our program immensely. But UK has been good for him too. It's not like he came in as a 5 star can't miss NFL star. I just say finish the job you returned to school to do. And yes--if he plays and has a serious injury I'll feel bad for him. But again--he could have been hurt in any game. And whoever plays in his place if he doesn't play may get hurt because Josh is not in there. Football is rough and risky.
It seems in this era of a bunch of meaningless bowl games the playoffs are the only ones that count for anything. The goal is to get to a bowl game but not to win it. Otherwise players would not choose to sit out. It simply shouldn't mean more to the fans than it does the players.
Maybe I've hopped up on this soapbox for nothing. Maybe Josh intends to play. Fingers crossed.Last edited by Catsrock; 12-02-2018, 09:33 PM.Comment
