Those are exactly the two I've mentioned. Richardson, I think, could be argued on him. Why'd he go short of the umpire? Everybody behind him is near the sideline. He's young, I am willing to bet that when Johnson threw that ball he thought Richardson wasn't going so shallow.

The pass to 88 (Walker)... that was on the run and it could be argued that he should make that catch... also. But yeah, it was too far out and low for a normal catch. That's where you put those balls for lowest interception chance.

Stoops indicated in multiple post game comments that the slant miss was on the QB.

on Pescal's tackle at the goal line, I don't think the ball was out of the end zone, but they give it to them on the 1/2 yard line. and there was one other one where I though so. miss got a very favorably spot for a first down.

The problem with the endzone ball placement was there was no camera angle right down the goal line to be sure even if they reviewed it. Why would there not ALWAYS be a goal line camera in this day and age? CBS have limited camera budget?

That first down and the subsequent non review on Ito Smith's certain fumble two plays later (which UK would have recovered) allowed USM to get their first score (a FG).

I'm not sure Benny was at full strength Saturday.

Stephen Johnson is not fast and he is not a runner. I don't know why folks think he is.

The first play we ran in the wildcat, S. Johnson was the jet sweep guy. He wasn't going to run it. MOF, I suspect we were going to give it to him for a trick play. We didn't use motion in any more wildcat plays. After reviewing the film, what is most mystifying to me was we continued to pull a guard in the wildcat and their quick d-linemen would just burst through that gap created by the pulling guard time and time again.

Conrad would have scored had he not gotten overly concerned by the pursuit. When he looked back it cost him a step which is noticeable on the film.

We didn't have any out and out drops that I recall.

Johnson made some nice throws but he also made some stinkers. The one over Richardson's head by 5 feet on the crossing pattern (BTW, Richardson is not so young - he's a RS Soph). The one rolling out to his right to Walker was another - missed it badly along with the first throw of the second half to Ross. The long pass to Richardson late in the 4th quarter was another miss. Richardson had to reach back over his head to the right to get his hands on it. Had he thrown it more toward the middle of the field, the 5-9 corner would never have had a play on the ball. He threw it into double coverage to Hart. He badly overthrew out of bounds to Epps down the sideline.

Near the end of the game, Epps was pulled off stride on the post pattern. A more experienced receiver makes the official see the interference and gets the call.

We didn't get any of the jump balls on defense which is highly disappointing.

                    The run defense was GREAT!!

Unless Bowden gets himself so far in the doghouse that you would have to shoot biscuits back to him, he will make an impact this week vs Eastern.

Some more of the young pups should get some time and the starters shouldn't have to play so much.

We played 13 players on defense the entirety of Stoops first year. We played 25 on defense SATURDAY!!

We used 8 different down linemen, 8 different linebackers and 9 different defensive backs. This ain't what we've been seeing for a good long while. MOF, through last year under Stoops we had regularly played 4 or 5 defensive linemen for the entire season.

Our D stoned their running game. THAT'S THE STORY!!!

The offense has some work to do but they do have some talented speed in the wings - Rose, Bowden and Koback.

No I don't think Johnson is fast either.

He did average 5 yards a carry last year and there were games where his legs really helped us. So he has it in the toolbox.

Just at the start of the game they panned the crowd. I saw one lovely co-ed in a sun dress fanning herself rapidly. It was that hot and humid! I will give some credit to the Southern Miss receivers. They seem to routinely make some really difficult catches. We may not have played it well with regard to body position, but the receivers were covered and not all alone. I don't know if I would call Johnson a runner but he makes plays with his feet ... a really important first down and a touchdown. He didn't turn the ball over which is a major improvement, and he made some throws to C.J. that were good throws. The young receivers will learn. Benny made a crucial block that enable Johnson to score. And then later he misses picking up a blitzes that almost got Johnson killed. It's the first game. The offense just seemed disjoined at times. I don't know how much credit the SM defense deserves. Its a long season and I'm just going to take it one game at a time. It feels a lot better after this game than it did last year.

I was watching a UK volleyball match and was thinking why do you not have 9 camera on the court. one on each of the lines, the two to see which side of the line the ball passes and then the one on the net to see if someone is over the net on a play. 9 cameras of good quality will set you back 9 grand. for football, 12 would take care of the boundaries, goal lines, and uprights.

The fact that he is black, and it is a stereo type that if a QB is black, he is a dual threat, if he is white, he is a pocket passer, and if a wr is white, he is a possession receiver, and if a rb is white, he is a power runner.

Stephen Johnson is a shifty runner......when he runs, good things usually happen. I held my breath, last season, because there was no back up, if he got hurt. If Snell has a minor injury that is preventing him from being the Benny from last season, I hope he heals up, before SEC play. I read that Rose was kept out for precautionary reasons. Maybe Rose can get snaps and they can rest Snell, if he needs it. I hope Conrad doesn't do the look back thing any more. As big as he is, he should run as fast as he can and drag those light weight DBs across the goal line if they catch up to him.

Last season it seemed that the defense is what needed fixing the most. This season it is the offense. Every game is a precious commodity, in football. Glad they won the game. I still wonder why they looked so disjointed on offense and had to punt so many times.

I do believe Bowden is the most highly rated offensive prospect, out of state, that UK has landed in the modern era. Tweet or no tweet, they need to get him on the field and see if he is a gamer.

Remember when Boom came to UK and one of the coaches said he needed to earn that nick name? It could have been Stoops, I do'nt remember. It didn't take long for them to call him Boom, after they started playing him.
