Wouldn't surprise me if the US meets them again in the medal round. I think in the 4th quarter only Irving and Anthony scored for the US. The Aussies just couldn't do anything with those two.
Carmelo and Kyrie basically took the game over late.

That team if you look at the roster is not that powerful. There are a lot of glue guys on it and very few stars.

Not sure they can be beat, but the Dream Team this ain't.

I was thinking the same thing. Not the star power that previous teams had. I think its a lot like the one that got bronze in 2004. The world isn't nearly as good this year so the US will probably win it.

I understand that we have to send pros, to keep the playing field level, but there's just something not right about professional athletes participating in the Olympics, in my opinion.

Watching the womens 400 m hurdles.

Is it me, or are athletes better looking on average than they were 30-40-50 years ago?

Seems more athletes than not have stepped out of some sort of modeling school - male and female.

Most of these women - yowza.

I agree. Most of them are very nice looking. Back in the day the East German women looked like they could on the starting line for any pro football team. Big and ugly. I think way back when the only girls or women that would play sports were the ones that were what you would say "manly" looking. The prettier girls were taught not to play sports. It wasn't lady like. I don't think that happens much anymore. Girls are taught they are equal and should play sports if they desire. That's good for all of us.

Good story on the South African, can't remember his name, that won the 400 meter men's race. He was coached by a 74 year old woman. She was there to watch him. He won and set a world record on top of it. Just a really nice scene to watch.

Bahamas' Shaunae Miller's effort for the gold in the 400 was impressive.

Yes it was, but I think the winner of a race should cross the finish line standing up.

I saw that this morning. I would have thought you would have finish standing and not diving or falling across the finish line. I bet the rule changes on that very soon.

I've never seen that before. I liked that she went for it, but I agree with Kevin that the rule will likely change. If multiple runners did that you'd have a rugby scrum at the finish line.

Reminds me of Pete Rose's playing days.

I have almost seen every Olympic sport at this point.

My favorite still? (Outside of basketball, obviously.) Indoor volleyball. They play it a tad different than we do in the backyard at my brother-in-law's house.

The weirdest? Greco Roman wrestling. The only sport that if my son wanted to play I wouldn't let him. Mind-bendingly strange.

I love watching the Olympics, and have seen some of most every event. My least favorites are synchronized swimming and water polo. I love all the track and field events, gymnastics, swimming, and all events Americans are competing in. I will have a melt down when the games are over.

The only interesting thing about water polo is the physical freakishness necessary to play the sport. Otherwise it's pretty boring.

They do try to drown the person with the ball every time they play defense, which is interesting.

I was at the neighborhood watering hole knocking back some chilled ones Sunday and happened to look up and saw a dude with a UK hat on photobomb Al Michaels. Anybody else see that??? Hilarious. UK fans are one of a kind and they are EVERYWHERE it seems.

USA mens basketball rolled over Argentina 105-78. USA got off to a slow start but when they picked it up they destroyed a much smaller Argentina team. Cousins had a good game with 15 points. Durrant was about the only one hitting from the outside or this would have been a 50 point game. Next up is Spain at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Spain will be much tougher. They have more NBA players than anyone besides the US. US has to come out ready to go and be ready for a battle to win this one.
